Sorry to hear of your truck problems guys. I've got a story of my own.
Last hear I headed out from Missouri towards Idaho for a short range weapon deer hunt. I made it to just east of Evanston, WY when I suddenly lost power. I got towed into Evanston and a nice mechanic got me in right...
I’ve got a pair of Ruger Blackhawks, a new model and a 1965 3 screw. I also have a peep sighted Marlin 1894. I’ve killed 2 deer with the pistols and 1 with the rifle. I love them. I shoot Hornady 210 grain XTPs.
Maybe someone's really poor attempt at creating a false shoulder for fireforming? No way that baby would chamber in anything other than a .22 Seuss Special.
Nothing on RL26 here, but IMR 4350 and 4831 both give me 3050 fps with the 200 gr Partition out of my 26” barreled 8mm mag at a couple grains under max. Accuracy is phenomenal and recoil is noticeably less than when I ran them at 3150 fps.
Thanks!
I did draw the tag. It drew out at the same level it did last year, but there were a few others that burned more points than I did.
As stated previously, I’ll be out there 3 days prior to the start to scout and learn the terrain. I’m not expecting a 180”. I just hope to see some rutting...
Wind is the #1 enemy of long range shooting accuracy. 500 yard shots aren’t that hard in calm conditions with verified drop data and a steady rest. Throw a cross wind into the equation and first round hits get a lot harder. The only way to learn is to shoot in varying conditions. That plus let...
Thanks for the replies guys!
5 points was about a 50% draw last year.
I’m getting out of the CO points game. No way I’ll ever draw a high quality tag. I’ll be there for the whole hunt, so I might catch a decent buck on public land. When the rut is on you never know. If I end up shooting a small...
I'm with the other guys. High quality bino's first. That Leica Duovid is no doubt great glass, but may prove too bulky. High quality 10x42's are hard to beat. I also have a pair of Swarovski 8x30's that are great to bow hunt with.
As far as a spotter, a cheap one may as well be a bunch of rocks...
I applied with 9 NR points for a 3rd season deer tag that drew out last year at 5 points. Hopefully I'll draw. This year's dates line up with my available vacation, which won't happen again for several years. Fingers crossed. Other than that, put in for my 13th elk point, plus antelope and bear...
Hi guys.
I decided to burn my 9 deer points this year on Colorado Unit 63 3rd rifle. The decision was based on the later date and that this year’s hunt will coincide with my available vacation time. The dates for the next couple of years wouldn’t work.
I plan on arriving 3 days before the hunt...
Yep.
Two years ago I drove a road in SE MT one day with no problems and ended up camping about 20 miles away that night. I decided to drive down that same road the next morning. Unbeknownst to me, it had rained there the night before. It was all good until about 9 AM when it warmed up, then I...
