    PA deer season begins!

Kids today just aren't the outdoor type anymore. Look around neighborhoods, no one is playing outside. When we were kids we were at the park, in the woods building forts and so forth. In my neighborhood you don't realize how many kids there are until you see them getting on or off of the school...

    PA deer season begins!

I can tell you in prior years driving up to the Blue, there would be a line of vehicles in front of me heading up to the PGC parking lots. Now I am pretty much the only truck.

I am in eastern PA and it was tough. Opening day we had high winds with not much movement. I was fortnate to score on a nice 6pt. which happened to be bedded down 80 yds in front of me, only I didn't know it. He popped up when 4 doe came in to bed down about 15yds from him. Took the shot and...

Know what is beyond your target

Unfortunately, in Berks County, PA a 10yr old boy was killed when he was behind a homemade target stand/backstop and a family member took 3 shots with a rifle. All 3 shots struck the boy.

What are you guys paying for gas?

We dropped to $3.54 a gallon for regular which was due in part to the announcement of Omicron. Costco is at $3.39. Normally for them they are on average $0.30 a gallon cheaper so right now its now worth driving there to fill up.

I have 2006 ADL Varmint in 308. Incredibly accurate. I do however need to get a new bolt release spring.

    Opening day surprise

Yeah I filled my tag as well. Funny thing was 4 hrs after legal shooting light I finally had 4 does swing by and bed down 80yds out. About 10 minutes later an pointer stood up about 15yds to their right. He must have been there since before legal light. When I shot a whole group of does that...

Should I dump my oem plastic Savage 16 stock? (and what should I replace it with?)

Here is my take on this as I go through this thought process several times a year. I have a R700 ADL Varmint in .308. I had the barrel cut from 26" to 20" with a recessed target crown. With my handloads if I do my part, get right around .307" center to center at 100yds with 165gr Sierra...

    Impressed with monolithic bullet

Disclaimer that this is a sample of 1, but I am still interested in these bullets for next season. In 2019 I had a buck come into view and once clear I took the shot which was later lasered at 82 yards. This is with a 300WM loaded with 180gr Barnes TTSX. I did not load these, they came with the...

Covid positive 11 days before leaving for montana elk hunt

Was supposed to leave this morning for Nebraska but ended up having to cancel. This past Saturday all I had was nasal congestion which is not at all unusual for me this time of year. Saw the doc and he felt it was a sinus infection and prescribed the Z-pack. Ironically this was on day 7 post 3rd...
