Great stuff here, getting ready to start my sheep scouting in Northern CO - I know it's a little bit early, but the we have had warm windy afternoons and started to have some rain showers so the snow is down to just banks. Hard to believe so much snow disappeared in the last month after an...
Moose/Goat/Sheep- Weighted point system for the most part is just a lottery. Hundreds of applicants will start having 30 plus points in the next few years. This system you either get lucky or keep putting in as there is no way to get rid of your points unless you drop out or draw.
Dying with all your points is equivalent to going to HUNTER HELL.
Paying in all the fees and then each year hoping for good result. I might be one of those hunters in Colorado. I have 20+ weighted mountain goat points and if I don't get a tag in the next couple of years, then I will need...
Chains are like condoms- you really don't want to put them on, but you are never sorry when you do. Buy a good set of chains and hope you never need to use them. The minute you think I might need to put the chains on, either do it or turn around before you get stuck and hope you don't get...
Crocs can be so slippery on wet surfaces that I got tired of slipping and failing on boat docks/wooden decks/my front porch/etc. I tossed mine and vowed to never own another pair.
I need some help on learning to take pictures!
Are these pictures taken from your phone or do you have a camera?
Are they selfies?
Any help would be appreciated - I am one of those guys whose fish and game usually look a lot smaller than they really are and most of the pictures I take are not...
I live about 6-8 miles east of Bears Ears as the crow flies. As of this am, I have seen a total of ONE cow elk, 5 doe antelope(one with a significant limp) that will not be around if a coyote shows up- we usually have plenty of coyotes right now and I haven't seen or heard many at all this...
Will do. I am recently retired and WAS hoping for one of these hard or statistically (you will die before you draw tags) might start coming through. For those of you whom don't know how the Colorado Weighted point system works for Sheep/Goat/Moose- If there is only a handful of tags for the...
This is the Golden year I have waited my whole hunting life for!!!! This morning I had the moment of disbelief. I got a credit card charge for Bull Moose that I have been waiting for 20+ years - Only it gets better. I drew the S73 ram tag last month, and now I drew Unit 16 Bull Moose tag...
It is snowy and muddy where I live. I have a Polaris General XP1000 and 2 of us can easily pick up the back of the buggy and set it over. Once you start getting high centered chains don't matter much.
Feel free to buy want you need.
I would think you would be able to pick up the back end and move it over if you got stuck - therefore eliminating the need for chains. Also your winch comes in handy to help.
The cuts are significant if you hunt the flattops or NW CO. Regardless of the cuts, the animals loss is significant in this area and will take years to recover. Hunting will be completely different in this part of the state.
I am one of those guys that went to 20+ banquets before my ticket was ever called to win a firearm. The odds finally caught up and now we have won a bunch of low grade guns - Most of which I promptly took to my local small gun shop and had them consigned.
I have spoke with most of the chapter...
Just thinking. It appears by all accounts including mine that Winterkill in parts of Western CO was significant this year. I can't wait to see if the CWD %'s change in these areas. The winterkill would have to affect the CWD or any less than healthy animal going into winter.
Not being any...
Now that is a thought. I have already have a beautiful pedestal mount that the wife actually allowed me to put in her portion of our home - Too Funny her portion/my portion - but that is how we roll after 30+ years of marriage. I have seen some beautiful lamps and such with euro's. Hopefully...
