    Suppressor Experience

I had already ordered the backcountry that I had upgraded to from an elk foundation banquet. The “free” .22 for the price of a tax stamp was nice.

Silencer company sent me a buy 1 get 1 free offer. Who can pass that up?

    Conservation Easements Explained

It is inexplicable how the cognitive dissonance has developed around CE. Private property advocates arguing for government involvement, permission and authorization. Very bizarre. I heard one county commissioner argue that mineral split estates should never have been “allowed”.

    Conservation Easements Explained

The fearmongering seems to be on who is buying the CE and what are they buying. The opponents are claiming blackrock and wall street are the buyers and they are locking up… something. Only nit on video might be the negative easement aspect. The CE doesn’t grant the purchaser the right to...

    Know your roads

It has been the other way, Mabee road had issues with extra access being designated but not actual.

    Know your roads

the county commissioners are supposed to review and sign off on the gas tax maps each year- adding what has been built and subtracting what has been abandoned. The maps give counties tax money based on miles of road. Sometimes the veracity might not be scrutinized adequately. Sometimes the...

Priced Out of Replacement Blade Knives

I carry more knives than I carry tags. I do try to resharpen touch up my replaceable blades(Gerbers) but also carry a fixed knife. I have a serrated blade for one of the replaceable that I would like to try on a couple knee joints but first is killing something. Hair seems to dull my replacement...

    Montana Mule Deer Mismanagement

Biologist last week said mule deer numbers down by, I heard her say by 76% lowest since 1960. Fawn rates this spring were 10 per 100 does. I don’t know the answers, all I can say is that mule deer are safe from me. Harvest rates don’t explain the very low birth rates.

Barnes TTSX 180 grain 300 win mag for elk?

I am shooting 175s in my 300 wsm. I would be surprised to see a ttsx with a nose bent over and failed to expand. I also don’t recover all the ttsx I shoot so hard for me to say what really happened on those cases. Last elk I failed to recover I shot at 300 yards slowly trotting. I led her, l...

    Montana corner crossing (ish?)

I am pretty sure FWP funds a special AG prosecutor for fish and game cases. It was that way years ago.

    Fear of Lost Keys

I made it to the trailhead once, without my atv key. About two hours from home. Fortunately, I had a different sibling with me that was able to use a sewing needle that my buddies wife had to cross the ignition wire with the hot wire behind the switch on the dash to make it run. Was able to ride...

    Fear of Lost Keys

My passenger lock is not functional after my siblings locked themselves out of my truck at hunting camp. They used a lag bolt to pop the passenger lock. (Spare key is hidden on truck). I should make a couple spares and issue them a key, maybe threaded in their boots. This is not the only time...

    GPS or phone

Just to be clear. Cell service is not needed for my iPad. To get the gps unit, the iPad has to be cell service capable, but to operate it does not use cell service. I would not have had to add the tablet to my plan if I didn’t want to. I download the maps from WiFi. I just also plan to use my...

    GPS or phone

One of my many reasons for going iPad versus gps, was the battery life. I can connect my iPad to my makita 18 volt battery to charge. I also prefer a larger screen. It was much easier to show companions where we were versus pointing to little screen. I do not have it in a case which is somewhat...

I have switched to an iPad mini that fits in the pouch in back of bingo harness. So far it is working well.

    Cats Aren't Trophies

Has California’s bighorn sheep population survived California’s ban on mountain lion hunting? Or are the past hunters, now paid game management specialists?

Looks like Fwp pulls from cadastral which has a line following the old river channel as the boundary. But if you look at the taxing geo code, the new river becomes the boundary- east is taxed into Garfield co, west is taxed into Petco. The old line is in error.
