Please Read- Need A Little Help

Seems like you have things lined up for the season, I hope you get the devildog his bull. I really wish I had a place for you but elk access on private land is something I've never been fortunate enough to have. I will be pulling for you this season, please keep us posted.

    Mystery Ranch Gift Card

Class act all the way, Randy. I played the scramble for gear game in 05 and I can't emphasize enough how much something like a quality pack will be appreciated over there. I also can't emphasize enough how much everyone's support means to the guys. Everyone thanks us for our service, but let...

    Successful Wyoming Elk Hunt

That's good to hear. I picked up the element jacket but haven't gotten to use it yet. I'm back and forth between the element pant and Kryptek equivalent right now. The Kryptek feels like it might be a little quieter but not sure if I trust the durability of the softer fabric.

Meat and airplanes; how'd you do it?

Guess I should also mention if you are trying to check antlers they are considered a specialty item and will cost $150. I would look seriously at other options for shipping your meat or gear because your rifle/bow will count as a checked bag and you really don't want to pay for a third bag as...

Meat and airplanes; how'd you do it?

1 pointer - you did read right about fresh meat but your post was discussing carry on luggage. A normal sized cooler will not be allowed as a carry - on due to size. You are allowed one carry-on and one pesonal item (a smaller backpack is allowed as a personal item). Max weight for a carry-on...

    Solo elk?

The majority of my hunts are solo. Like Oak said, if I depended on someone else I would've spent a fraction of the time chasing animals. Almost all of my biggest animals were killed solo. It can suck, but it's hard to find a good hunting partner - unless you like driving around in a truck...

My first bull down CO unit 2 Muzzleloader

I'm going to guess he grosses somewhere between bigger and way bigger than anything I've killed.

    Successful Wyoming Elk Hunt

It's amazing all of the small cameras that have come out in the last six years or so that you can attach to bows and such. I looked for something that I could attach to my helmet before I left for Iraq in 05 but I didn't find anything. When I got home there were small cameras with brackets to...

That's a nice bull, congrats. Are you wearing the older Sitka or Core 4?

    Guy on a Buffalo

Great, now all hunting season I'll probably be singing about punching cougars in the face and chasing bear on a buffalo. Is this secret, previously unreleased footage of Chuck Norris pre-mullet?

    The Montana Slaughter

I usually hunt on a small piece of property above the lake. I'll have to ask the owner if he knows anything about a monster coming out of there this year.

    My Raghorn...too

I would never have shot that bull...... he would have smelled me after I crapped myself and blew out of the country. Awesome, awesome bull.

    Bull Down, Finally

After spending most of the season hunting the breaks I finally put one down. He's not what I was looking for and I held out for the big one until the bitter end. The drifts were too high for me to get into the area I had been hunting so I had to start from scratch in a new area that was filled...

Has anyone else had Murphy show up for a hunting trip this year?

WT, you're right - that would hurt a lot more. I found the whole situation funny (after I got home, of course) and thought I would share my misadventures. Twodot, thank you for the tip. Unfortunately I'm in 621, had no problems finding elk until this last trip. I'm not complaining, just...

Has anyone else had Murphy show up for a hunting trip this year?

I've been hunting the breaks this year and had been enjoying myself up until the last trip. Started out by zoning out a little coming into a speed zone and missing the sign. $65 dollars later and the hunt was still on. Get to the hunting area and the roads were snow on top of still wet gumbo...

    Montana Toad...

I hear that Whip, I've been living in the breaks. Feeling the pressure now. Seen bulls every day but one. No monsters, lots of orange. I was hoping you had got yours by now.

    Beware! Dry ice!

That's a bit steep. I work for Delta and to the best of my knowledge we don't charge for dry ice but it is treated as hazmat. FYI for those of you who fly into smaller airports for hunting/fishing trips - Delta will not allow dry ice to be placed in the same cargo bin as a live animal because...

    Tucson in the Spring

If you ever make it out to Montana let me know. I spent some time in Iraq with the Marines as an infantry squad leader and will take a fellow Vet out hunting/flyfishing anytime.
