Lots of birds showing up at the wma across the street, yesterday took the kids for a walk, wind and sun at my back, pretty bull sprig setting up for an epic shot in the sunset and wah! Wah! Wah! Battery died. This was the last one as he was setting to turn in to the sun/wind, another 30 seconds...
Getting closer, 150ish rds down the tube, looks like I’m gonna end up in the 3100 range. Shot 5 of these @ 24 degrees couple day ago and 4 today at 48 degrees. Both were under 1 moa. Vel change of +6, 10 rd SD of 9 so far. Made it all the way to 3150 without pressure in the ADG brass. Not...
I vaguely recall our 20 something y/o selves with some babies running around in diapers thinking yea we ain’t ever letting these kids be like us and have one of these.
The historical equivalent of the atomic Bomb to normal social behavior in children and young adults.
I once called one of the type 2 bma in region 5 for permission when I saw a 90” goat while scouting 600 yards off the road the day before you were supposed to call. When I called the next morning they said they were booked. That lope had been hanging between that bma and a neighboring private...
One time in archery season me a friend and his gf were stalking this big 4x4 mule deer buck (like 160-70), we had followed them in to some dark timber, the big one was with a small 2x3 . I thought it was a lost cause thinking they had spooked outta there. Few minutes later we break thru in to...
Montana
147,070 sq miles
450,000 deer
140,000 elk
5300 cats
Just over a million people
California
155,812 sq miles
450,000 deer
4-6000 cats
38 million people
How could they not get accustomed to people?
So what are the comparisons to other similarly populated states (people and lions) where hunting is allowed.

old news! You will have a hard time finding someone you agree with on everything. Still one of my favorite presidents. In general politicians should stay out of wildlife management. Case in point Montana mule deer or California mountain lions. Same chit.
Idk but I had a couple strange encounters when I hunted d-15. Most memorable was hunting the edge of a burn in archery season, FS had done burns as fire breaks along the ridges. Couple hundreds yards wide. Deer frequented those burns. I was about half mile from the truck, cat casually walks out...
Less than favorable conditions out there, 10-20 wind in the face @23 degrees. Gonna load up 20 of these and shoot em over the chrono and suppressed and see what that looks like. Was hoping to get this thing on a 2100 target today but currently can’t see much past 800.
I remember one time a jogger was eaten by a mountain lion in the sierras foothills. Lady had two little kids. Later fish and game tracked it down and whacked it, but it was discovered to have two babies nearby. There was a fundraiser for the mountain lion babies to be taken care of.
probably gonna put it in a ag composite alpine hunter (different scope/rings) after its got 3-400 rds down the tube and it will be a safe queen at a touch over 10lbs.
175 Ablr bullets shot as expected, nothing exciting on that front, 2-3 in the same hole then 1 or two off 1-2”. For whatever reason I’ve never got that bullet to shoot in this cartridge. Just left over components to break it on so no loss there.
This is the starting point for tomorrow.

Got through barrel break in (proofs recommended). The brake requires double ear protection for continuous shooting (plugs plus muffs) but with all the screws out there was no muzzle rise and spotting my immediate impacts on 1” dots at 100 was no problem. Recoil was about the same as my 10 lb 6.5...
