I opened this thread for the first time this morning. I read the whole thing. I’m happy knowing that others have at least considered hunting dolphins. I also learned in another thread that a 7 mm 175 is only marginally stable at sea level in a 10 twist. I’ve never hunted at sea level so that...
One of the few videos I stumbled across recently, As soon as I heard what cartridge he brought I had a good idea how it was gonna go. As expected. Lol.
23 y/o closed on her first home yesterday. 18 y/o delivering her sisters b&c lope in her Jeep, I got the moose in my truck. Wife’s like well looks like you gotta go get your own moose and book goat now. Lol
Arca rail a balanced gun and a good tripod is game changing. I think we shot nearly every animal last season off a tripod. Being able to shoot from any spot in any terrain. Honestly I almost don’t feel right about it.
I’m curious what the advantages are if any over a 7 saum. In my mind without looking at exact case specs they have to be very very similar. Genuine question? I got another sa/ma build in the works. 20/22” tube suppressed. Leaning heavily toward 7 saum.
So 36 fps? Exceptional engineering… what a modern marvel they came up with. Best thing since they turned wheels from square to round. I’m gonna go buy 2.
I’m shooting those 195’s almost 300 fps faster in that Nosler case.
Going from a 7rm to a 28 Nosler is like putting a blower on your truck...
You have to admit there is some great marketing going on here. No less than 10 guys told me I should do a 7 prc over a 28 Nosler for xyz..blah blah! But hey I’m not complaining about 80$ ADG clearance brass or 195’s in stock.
According to Hornady 7prc
175 Gr 2950 is more realistic
180 Gr 2900...
lol! your all caught up in the fan boy club huh? I could care less, I’m not saying it’s better. Piece of steel or an elk standing at 1k wouldn’t know the difference.
168 vld out of my factory 7rm
180 eldm out of my prc if (if I could get 3000).
Like I said earlier 7prc makes a lot of sense...
Someone should tell that to the 6 dasher guys winning matches shooting 2850 when they can get 3k with a 6 creedmore in the same bullet.
Lot more to shooting long range than fastest velocity and highest bc.
I was shooting 7mm 168 vlds beyond 1k long before the 7prc came along to make it possible.
I met a guy at the range that was on his 3rd 6.5 prc trying to get 3000 with 147-156 weight bullets. All factory box ammo. He asked me what I was getting with the 156’s and I told him 2960 with those and 3012 with 147’s out of my 24” with hand loads. He seemed surprised to learn though that it...
QC was an issue for sure. Like any other business. You build a great product, people buy it, you grow and quality slips if you don’t have the people and systems in place to keep what you started going.
As someone with a safe full of light/heavy/carbon/synthetic/aluminum black wiz bangs, that bottom rifle is pretty. I was gonna buy a MRC rifle right about the time they became wishy washy and hesitated. 7-08 or 30-06 is what I’d be looking for. No brake. Gentleman’s gun.
Really? Idk try being a drywaller, painter, mechanic, electrician, framer, finish carpenter, tile setter, mason, roofer or about a thousand other formerly middle class jobs in California from oh idk at least 1980-present. Pretty common for businesses to exploit those people and the system. I’m a...
Gonna start building a spec home or two a year as a side gig. 16-1800 sq fters. Did pretty good on my own house, it was the Guinea pig. Looking for another lot now.
I’m not drinking the kool aid. I’m sending 168’s at 3150 and 175’s at a little over 3000 in my 7rm. No problem loading them at 3.415 in my ridgeline.
Fwiw in a 175 class .284 bullet the wind drift difference at 600 yards from mid 2800’s to 3000 is like 1/10th or (2ish inches) . I’m no 7prc fan...
Took it out yesterday after Easter festivities. I loaded up a few with the plan to Chrono 5 of my final load to check the sd, then shoot the rest on steel. It was late so I wasn’t gonna have a lot of time. The wind was 10-15 coming at 30 degrees. Opened up on the 8” at 560, 3 impacts center...
