Grew up hunting in slug only land of the midwest. I have lost track of the number of deer killed with a 12 or 20 ga slug. The coppers from Federal and Remington in sabot form have been fantastic compared to the old foster style slugs (and even older "rifled" sabots for that matter). Longest shot...
Hey guys - dont forget that Texas has an awesome no cost program for disabled vets to get their hunting license! Just have your VA ID card and award letter with you when you purchase it (cant be done online sadly).

When does the update go out to allow me to use my beloved OnX Maps on my new ASUS phone? It downloaded and opens then immediately freezers and crashes.
Thanks,
Brian
The wife and I have a Alps Mtn Zephyer -3 tent and have used the snot out of it the last 4 years. The think was a little heavy for the Appalachian Trail but worked well since I had my 130# service dog with me (and occasionally another occupant) but their tents are BOMBPROOF!
We havent even had...
Worked:
Mystery Ranch Pintler - it was my first year with it and I love it. Ended up adding a Kifaru Gunbearer which worked well for me (due to my knees I dont hike much without trekking poles so the Gunbearer was a great addition).
RMEF/Alps Outdoors bino harness - I liked it for the money...
I picked up a couple of used Z-lite waffle foam pads at the Summit Hut annual yard sale for $1 each.
Cut one in half and got the wife and I glassing pads - total cost $0.50/each
The other one got cut into a 1/2 section and 2 x 1/4 sections and now our dogs each have their own sleeping pad for...
A piece of saran wrap with some gauze underneath it makes a pretty good burn dressing as well. Just get the skin properly cooled off before applying it. I have even used it when field dressing to cover the outer tenderloin when hanging a deer - keeps the rind from forming and greatly limits...
Your level of first aid training will dictate what goes in YOUR first aid kit. There isnt a ready-made good for all kit out there that I have found and Ive used most of them (retired US Army combat medic and civilian EMT).

You mean Leuko tape? That stuff is awesome but pricey.
Watch CamoFire, Optics planet, and GoHunt for sales. Just missed out of MR Metcalf for $326 US for Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales. The sales will come around again on New Years Eve (post-christmas sales), our Labor day and Memorial day and 4th of July. Also check into the classified section...

Hey guys I just picked up a Mystery Ranch MULE (bag only)from OpticsPlanet.com and got black friday pricing, free shipping, AND 10% off for a coupon code (USCCAH16) for a grand total of $108 shipped!
Lots of MR products are on sale today (also check GoHunt.com).
Happy Thanksgiving!
I emailed both Iron Will and Bone with some questions about my set up and hunting style and Bone got back to me within hours, on the day before Thanksgiving no less. They took the time to make sure that I am getting the exact thing I need and even gave me a coupon code to use. So for now that...
Just saw that GoHunt as several MR packs on black Friday sale. I picked up my Pintler there during a Memorial Day sale for ~$365 or so.
I love the Pintler but for back home here in the East mostly day hunting out of stands and blinds I’m waiting on the Mule (bag only) to go on sale.
+2 for the Klymyt Static V insulated. My wife and both swear by ours. If it keeps up warm and comfy sleeping on the ground your are gonna be just fine in a cot.
They have a promo going on now where if you buy a pad from anyone (think the current black friday sales!) you should get a rebate form...
I currently have the Pintler and love it! But... now that Im back east hunting whitetails out of ground blinds and tree stands I am looking for a smaller pack. I also think the Mule might be the best option but I havent been to a retail store that sells them yet. Maybe a black friday sale will...
Agreed!
My vote for the OP is to spend some money on a FAA/TSA approved gun case, toss the .270 and .30-06 with some heavy for caliber premium ammo in the case, and book a ticket/guide then GO! your fiscal savings might even impress the wife enough that she doesnt complain about the two or three...
