My wife and I have done Denver to spring creek pass over the last three summers, will finish home to Durango this year.
Do it, at whatever pace works for you.
I broke my tibial plateau at 27 and have had one bad knee since. Invest in trekking poles if you don't already have them for packouts.
I'm jealous. Been skiing my whole life, but have been a miserable failure at my several times trying to barefoot. Wish I had a boat with a boom. 36, just dumb enough to still do such things.
2 mule deer bucks, 2 dusky grouse, 2 ducks, a snowshoe hare and a black-tailed jackrabbit. Easy to count when you don't have much success... And not counting the cottontail I killed in college with a thrown fruit.
I'm more of a skier than hunter. Here in the San Juans, May and June should be the best months of the year in the backcountry. Last year by mid-May the snowpack was a dusty, dirty mess, barely holding on. A few spring dust storms bringing in red dirt, few spring snows to cover up that layer, and...
Not as bad as most of these, but I used to surf in Maine in the winter. Wetsuit, booties, mitts, so mostly it was fine, but trying to unlock and then start the car after a couple hours in the 40 degree ocean could take a very long time. Fingers wouldn't be close to working, so I'd have to...
It's my first pronghorn hunt, I'll be happy if I can just find some on public land to chase. I'll be in SE CO, so limited public land. Got to drive through and poke around for a couple hours last week and saw sign but nothing live and in the unit.
OP, sorry for the hijack, your photo got me...
Don't think you'll piss off many Midwestern locals trying to hunt their elk, unless it's on fort riley, and they can usually defend themselves. Not a lot of elk in the Midwest these days...
I hunt some BLM behind a friend's 40 acres. Especially before my first success last year, she tried to convince me to join her for her morning coffee on the porch, as there was a big buck there most mornings. I didn't have the heart for it, though more than about 100 yards from the house all...
Hunted deer on a 400 acre or so parcel of BLM landlocked by private. One very nice older gentleman would drive the trail around the perimeter of about 150 acres of it, and drive it, and drive it. How he hopes to succeed like that, I don't know.
I will never own a sxs or 4 wheeler, but when my...
Just saw this in the local paper. Headline made me think one person/group went on a poaching spree, but it actually seems worse that most of these appear unrelated.
