Low Country Elk??
Honestly I'm not sure what his max elevation would be. I think he could do a little higher up if it didn't involve a lot of up/down walking although that's not very easy to find. I've looked into OR, mainly western OR but that's a 30+ hour drive which we can do but if we can find something in... -

Low Country Elk??
Anyone recommend a state/unit for low country elk? Been wanting to take my dad on an elk hunt but he would not be able to do a high country hunt. The only states/units I know of are 5-10+year wait to get drawn. I would prefer to do this w/in the next 2-3 years. A bull tag would be nice, but... -

Outfitting on National Forest
I don't mind it everyone has to earn a living and if there is a demand why not. I have heard of what Bowhuntrben mentioned were some outfitters feel like they have full control/rights over the public land(which I think some state out west has some quirky law about allowing that actually). Auburn paying players?
I'm an SEC fan but I can say this doesn't surprise me at all, I'd be more surprised to find an SEC school that doesn't do this. Not to say that other conferences and school's don't do this, just that the SEC does it more or just gets caught more.- blb078

Tag Raffles and their odds

That's actually not true, they're given grants from state & federal gov'ts when they take on something new. They were given almost $4.5 million by the state alone in '11. WYF&G also pays ranchers about $500k a year for wildlife crop damage, I'd be willing to be a lot of those ranchers turn...- blb078

Or just keep raising fees on hunting licenses so there are less people hunting then raise the fees even more, run more people off. Cutting out fisheries isn't going to eliminate fishing, it's not like the lakes and streams are just going to dry up of fish. And if you go back and check you will...- blb078

WYF&G releases pheasants at a cost ot $23 per bird, but only charges $14 for a license, pretty sure there aren't many NR buying those so it's all on the residents. $4mil per year on trout and salmon. Right of the bat you have two losing parts of their business that would be a huge cost savings...- blb078

Well I guess the other day when I put in a for a special general elk tag + point I'm not helping to fund their budget in your mind? But I guarantee that if you look into the fish and game's budget, you will find many area's where they are wasting money. Problem is no one wants to do that...- blb078

The funding issue is just a scapegoat politicians like to use. If the bill passed and there were less hunters(which is more likely what would have happened from looking at other states) then they'd say "we don't have enough funding because the higher tag fees scared away hunters" Most states...- blb078

What should we hunt and film?
+1 to this, I like to see hunts were it's something I can do, every other show has trophy type hunts so I'd say keep those to a minimum of 1 or 2 per year. Or maybe just the very hard to draw species like moose, ram, goat, if drawn of course. I don't care to see an elk or deer hunt in a unit...- blb078
