waterproof hunting pants / jackets
If all you're wanting is for sitting in the snow I'd bring a tarp or a space blanket. A little loud but since you're rifle hunting it wont be as much of an issue. If you definitely want a pair of pants then get something with a 10k mm rating or higher. -

I can't tell you about specific biologist but here's what I do. Tell them what/when I'll be out, ask about water sources, area's that tend to get a lot of pressure, roads, specific areas to avoid(if any), ask about any areas I already have in mind from looking at map/GE, winter kill and/or... -

I agree, I looked at the mytopop map and it looked like most of the unit except NW and SE part of it was checkerboard w/a couple smaller sections of private. But either way can't complain about a big operation like that charging only $60 access fee. -

Tire Chains
Glad this topic came up as I've been thinking about the same. I have two options for vehicles my Ford Escape which is 4wd(more like AWD though) and my Chevy 2500HD 4x4. Alaska moose - OYOA style

hunter orange in NM?
I'll be hunting NM for muleys this year and I'll be wearing the same orange on my head/chest that I do here during the MO rifle season. best whitetail state
If you're talking public land then you're best states are going to be MO & WI. Both have a lot of public land, both have otc bow and rifle tags, and both routinely have people take 150" + deer on public land every year. MT Goat Scouting
Even though the question wasn't for me, I can somewhat answer them for you Baeman. I don't use the lumbar pad w/my Terminus(frame is the same regardless of bag though). Kurt even says that the way the frame is w/o the pad will work for most. I did buy it an try it out just didn't need it...- blb078

Bino Selection
8x32 and 15x56. All I use are 8x32 though but I also live in the Midwest so they're a good middle ground for at home and out west for me. -
