This will prob fall on deaf ears - with the exception of @wllm - as it’s a sci-fi/fantasy series, but I’m currently reading (on book 3) the Red Rising series by Pierce Brown. It’s excellent. Like Hunger Games meets Game of Thrones.
Went to the match (I’m an alum and try to go to one big match a year). Atmosphere was electric, but as you probably saw, the match was short on offense post-133 lb bout.
I’ve run Big Agnes tents for years. Big fan. With gear, it’s quality, weight, and price. You can usually have two of the three (assuming you’re not filthy rich), and I’ve found BA to offer a good mix of all three. Right now I’m running a Fly Creek UL2 (retails for like $300?). Plenty of space...
Don’t worry @Big Fin, some of us are even father behind. 😆
Great story, fellas. Pics and videos were awesome. A great hunt is often made an epic one when it’s shared with friends. And congrats, @Gerald Martin. Looks like 2022 will be an unforgettable year for you and your boys!
Awesome story and pics, @theat. You never disappoint. Loved the pic of the dark colored fox early on in the trip. Looking forward to the rest of the story.
Friend of mine bought the T3 Lite VA right before our Montana spring bear hunt last year. Super impressive rifle out of the box, particularly at that price point. Loud AF, though, as @BoomerUSAF pointed out.
Lightly used Garmin InReach Mini. Includes original box and all accessories (charging cable included but isn’t in the pics). Asking $290 shipped/insured to CONUS. The unit has been factory reset. PayPal F&F or you pay fees. Also have Venmo.
Think these comments and insight are why this platform and the entire OYOA/Fresh Tracks ecosystem continue to be relevant, impactful, and helpful to the DIY community. Most folks in this business would never think to be so genuine and truthful regarding their personal and professional successes...
If I’m on a budget, Larceny bourbon is great at <$25.
Mid grade - Basil Hayden
If I’m splurging or celebrating - Whistle Pig, Jefferson Ocean, or Michter’s
Beer - IPAs all day - Stone IPA, Bell’s Two Hearted, Dale’s Pale Ale, Ballast Point Sculpin; Pliney the Elder or Heady Topper if I can...
Patagonia makes great down jackets at 2/3 the price you’ll pay for a down jacket from a “technical hunting gear” company. If you don’t need camo, it makes little sense to buy clothing, etc from FL, SG, Sitka. Patagonia, Mountain Hardwear, and others, have been in the high performance mountain...
Along this same line, wondering if there are lawyers out there who hunt/fish and do pro bono work on behalf of conservation groups? Seems there would be, but I imagine it’s a more niche thing than other non profit causes. Might be worth looking into, though.
