This is awesome. I've wondered why people get so bent out of shape of people asking about topography, general questions and posting a unit #. Because they feel it "burns" units.
But you have threads about leftover draws, second draws, primary draws and nobody bats an eye. Wouldn't these...
This one looked to be working a scrape on the top of that little ditch. We had gotten about 6" of rain over 5 days. Guessing he slipped down the hill catching his antlers.
@WinkB I hope you are getting a print made of that bottom picture of you and your daughter walking down the "road". Truly amazing picture to go with a GREAT story so far!
Broke the 7yr whitetail curse. Came out working scrapes 100yds out 1 grunt from me and he turned snort wheezed at me and marched in to 15yds. Made 6 scrapes on his way in. Trail cam picture was just before the shot you can see me at full draw in the top middle of the frame.
Is it really the people asking unit # specific questions that are the issue or the people who answer them and provide information?
I could ask a unit specific question and sure the thread shows up on a Google search but if nobody answers or gives any info what good is it to anyone? And how will...
Explain what else he asked? He never posted a question mark so I read it as has any experience in this part of the state and what the terrain is like? Therefore he's asking anyone with experience what can he expect for terrain.
Not here to argue grammar tho. Best of luck to you the rest of...
I can 100% appreciate everything you posted. I would venture to guess this guy got 1 or 2 PM by posting this.
I don't see forum unit #s as a problem like you do but can respect it.
So you are saying 1 person asking about the terrain of a unit will burn that whole unit? Guy didn't ask anything about elk numbers or asking for any spots. Just simple what's the terrain like?
I would argue the comments made by @enbhunts (that he makes on every post that has a unit #) would...
Idk what is more comical guys who post specific unit #s or guys who complain on every single post that has specific units on it. Thus boosting the post.
551 is 546sq miles with 87% public. Doubt someone posting it is going to spot burn it 🤣
I don't understand how posting Unit #s is so frowned...
Of all the advice given this is probably the best. I didn't realize with my stand ideas you are hunting now so disregard bucks cruising.
Also I noticed you have a week and half of hunting with a muzzleloader. Get the wind in your face walk really slow through that area you shared a picture of...
Without knowing the scale of yhe picture and where the deer will be primarily coming from (souls based on the info provided) these are the 3 spots I would have stands with the wind direction I would hunt them on. They are numbered in no order of rank.
1) Good looking travel corridor around that...
There looks to be a road of some sort (white line) that connects your 2 waypoints? If this is actually a road or military used trail I would assume foot traffic, vehicle etc will be high. Also seems like a pretty easy spot for everyone to get to? How is hunting pressure? Also where the trees are...
