Just wanted to put this here in case someone ends up with any scratches or gouges in their Mathews bow in Ambush color. I had some rubbing on a new sling I tried this fall. Rubbed the powder coat to the bare aluminum.
Used Vallejo (Amazon $7 I believe) Oliver Drab for the color. I bought...
I use the Wal Mart wrangler performance pants for wet wading and working on treestands along with other misc pre season work that needs to be done and love them! Probably my favorite pants for that.
However, with that being said I would never trust them or any of the other cheap pants for...
Just got back from 2 weeks in the mountains. And we had no issues finding elk, saw more this year than the previous 6 years combined. I can testify they were not bugling nearly as much as the past 6 years.
Like others have mentioned handful of round up bugles right at first light than you had...
99% might be a stretch however i.would argue that the short fletching in and of itself is a tuning issue 😀
I shot one of my dad's original thunderheads from the early 90s last weekend and that thing flew just like my field tips. Like you said a good modern broadhead will most likely be a...
100% this here.
IMO this is the worst reason to switch. If you have accuracy problems with a fixed blade its 99% of the time a bow tuning issue. Assuming you have a newer 10yrs or less bow; just tune the bow, super easy DIY or take it to a shop. Fix will most likely only take 5-15mins. Shooting...
I would consider renaming this thread "Transferable skills... Turkeys to Elk.
A lot more in common from the moving, positioning for a shot, calling, reading vocalization, calling, when to be patient when to move.Use a bow instead of a shotgun.
Turkey can't smell you but their eye site makes up...
I tried these 3 years ago. Not sure if they still do it but you could get 1 free sample to try. Got one in each size. Glad they had tgst option, becauseI wanted to like these heads but no matter what I did I couldn't get them to shoot consistent at all.
Ended up going with a different head and...
Like @seeth07 said about 5 days later in the month is "primetime". However this is very variable and dependent on property. I've had great hunts early in November, for my best consistent days I would say they are 6-11th.
I think if you have the means and time to hunt it would be more than...
This was my experience. No matter I did I couldn't get these heads to shoot straight or even consistent for that matter. Shot 3 other brands of broadheads and those 3 flew great. I don't know what it is with them.
The lawson stuff is nice, but after using it for 1 season went back to 550 cord. The lawson and other narrower diameter stuff seemed to become a tangled ball way to easy imo. And you are only saving 3.2oz with the lawson from 550 cord.
Hope it works out for you though.
I do a lot of low light, no light shooting with a light so feel comfortable with it. I always use the light at work. Never thought to try a headlamp. Went out and tried it and the headlamp sucked for site acquisition. Very good point you made and thanks for the reply!
Used a 10x16 canvas tent a couple times will try and find the pictures. We could sleep 4 full size cots, the metal military ones that are a pain to get the last bar in. Doing this there was NO ground space left. We had a stove and had enough clearance around it to burn safely but was super tight...
Personally archery season I carry a handgun on my pack and sleep with it next to me. Spray is attached under my binoharness.
I like having 2 options spray will be my goto. I have dropped my pack 2 times hunting to move on elk still had the spray. And when nature calls I always leave my pack and...
