hey guys,
I developed my elk load for this fall, but i dont want to be wasting $2 everytime i pull the trigger when i am preparing my shooting for my hunt. could y'all give me reccomendations for plinking ammo in the 165 grain range? my plan is to shoot no further than 350 yards, so as long as...
A few years back i was packing out a shed antler, and it wouldnt fit in my pack, i used a multi tool with a saw and i sawed it off, used a small wooden dowel and some JB weld and you wouldnt know it was ever broken unless you were looking for it.
I dont know why someone would want to "repair"...
to make your scouting trip more effective, i highly reccomend spending some time and doing some e-scouting. Randy Newberg's youtube has a playlist of it and its worth taking the time to watch. i have watched it through multiple times and every time i take something new away from it.
Welcome to...
First hunt this year and seeing that the going price for the wildlife management institute’s book which is now out of print is about $500 I am looking for recommendations on books about elk.
thanks, matt
I am looking for a copy of this book. I don’t want to spend more than $100 after shipping, I am trying to absorb all I can about the topic before my hunt.
thanks,
Matt
As an update: went to the range today. Accubonds shot by far the best .233” (measured from outside edges and subtracting bullet diameter from group) at 100 yards 5 shot group.
I didn’t think I was capable of that. Surprised me.
150 TTSX shot about 1.1” at 100yds 5 shot group.
The best loads are...
A side comment:
In Alabama for WMAs, we have to have a permit to recreate on them. All of this money goes to funding wildlife projects on the WMAs (mostly dealing with eradication of hogs) but everyone contributes to that. An annual pass is about $30 and I would be happy to see this more...
thank you for clarifying before i could. PR money in essence goes 100% toward wildlife and does not do anything in terms of improving things used for outdoor activities, with the exception of wildlife
This is just a food for thought question.
For those who do not know, in 1937, in the peak of the great depression, the Pittman-Robertson act was passed and was done so at the request of many sportsmen. the act took an existing 11% excise tax on all long guns and ammunition as well as 10% on...
Thank you all for your insight. I might have some 150gr TTSX on hand that i can try to load with. I also have some 165gr accubonds that i got a few weeks back. Ill head to the range in the morning and ill see what groups best!
thanks again!
Matt
Just got myself a new .308 and am looking to build a load for it. The gun is a bergara B14 hunter. I have my vx-3 coming this week.
I want to make a load with one of 3 bullets: accubond 165, Tsx 168 or TTSX 168.
I have varget on hand and would prefer to use that if possible.
thanks
Those two outfitters are uncle and nephew. I will be doing work with both throughout the summer so we are all on the same page. my plan is half the trip at one camp, half at the other.
yep. our work trip in 2018 was forced out due to wildfire. Here is a picture from camp the night USFS came and told us to start packing up. Last year and 2017 didn’t affect our area but affected big salmon and the further north trails
