    Coho & crab

You did really well! We have fished with that outfit for a number of years with good success. The crabbing option is awesome and I'm always surprised when more people don't do it. I remember a few years ago my son and I were the only ones that did it. When they pulled in the pots stuffed...

    Turo vehichle rental

Used Turo several times in Alaska for both hunting and fishing trips. Never had an issue and usually much less hassle than traditional rental companies. Always take meticulous photos of inside and out when picking up so you can prove you didn’t damage anything.

    Horses in elk country

It takes us two trips to get everything in so we usually start 2-3 days before season. Coming out we can get it all in one load (no human or horse feed) if we've shuttled elk quarters to the trailhead during the week already. Definitely faster and less frustration without the horses but the...

    Horses in elk country

We elk hunt most years with horses here in Oregon. We pack in a big camp with 2 canvas tents, food for 5 people and everything needed to hunt for a week. We use a highline and that seems to work great. We are 8 miles back in and I usually just hunt by foot from camp until I get an elk down...

    Boy's fishing trip 2023

The Alaska boy's trip has become a family tradition that we'll hopefully continue for many years to come. We lost a day to weather but found a late run of sockeye that made up for it. Alaska in the Summer is hard to beat.

Flying with a rifle - Is this a change at Alaska Air?

Had the same thing happen a few years back at PDX flying on Alaska. That was a mad scramble to get more before the plane left.
