Thanks!
I had always thought it sounded like a great adventure to hunt Unimak. Very remote and some huge bears. Also thought hunting them on the beaches when they were looking for dead whales sounded cool. After trying for several years I realized the odds were so slim to draw the tag so I...
Good points. It's going to be a tough choice that's for sure. Right now I'm leaning towards a Spring hunt since my Kodiak bear hunt was in the Fall and I want a different experience. Also Fall this year would be harder to schedule. I believe I have 30 days or so to make my choice.
That would be nice. I'm not complaining though. Before I went to Kodiak I actually applied several times for the Unimak Island tag so I'm thinking I'll do that in Spring of 25 with this tag. I don't think I can make any of the Fall dates work this year.
Yes, if you don't have a family member that meets that requirement. I have a sister and brother-in-law that live in Alaska so I have that option. It will depend if my brother-in-law can get the time off work for the hunt I choose.
Flying home from a great week in Costa Rica with the family and I had a voicemail from a nice lady at the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. Thought someone was playing a joke on me. My wife and boys thought I was having a heart attack listening to the message. 😂 Guess it was really my lucky...
If I was 20 years younger with no care about $ or raising a family, I would say Alaska. As it is now, when retirement hits, the wife and I hope to have a place in Wyoming and Southern UT or AZ for the winters. I could get used to hunting elk, deer and antelope every year in Wyoming.
This was many years ago and I had already killed a great bull in Utah that year. 2nd to the last day of the WY Gen hunt and I come over a ridge and had this bull at 200 yards. Compared to the Utah bull he looked tiny so I passed. Still not sure what I was thinking.
Only in for long shot elk and oryx this year. Too much going on already this Fall with both boys off to college. But, we'd make time for either of those tags. Good luck everyone!
