Louisiana is no where near Iowa on the whitetail scale, nevertheless we have seen the same trend, which now seems to be accelerating. This is much more evident in the Mississippi River alluvial plain than in the Gulf Coastal Plain because the low ground is where the big big bucks and crops grow...
Luckily I have a pile of Nosler Trophy grade and a pile of Accubond bullets for reloading stockpiled from before the prices went sky high. I have one .308 rifle that absolutely loves that round. I am a big fan of the Nosler Accubond but it is pricey these days.
I also have a .308 rifle that...
I am driving all the way from Louisiana next season and I will be focusing on whitetails. I mean if I see a big ole mule deer I will go after it, but I have a hunch I will be coming home without a mule deer.
I will second this. I have the Xlite and the Xtherm NXT Max. Best thing I have ever done for my sleep system, even over the Western Mountaineering bag.
Just go if you have the time and can swing it financially. You won’t regret it no matter if you take an animal or not.
You should learn enough to make it worthwhile regardless because you will be much more experienced for your next trip.
I have a 3x9 on one and a 4x on the other. I find myself grabbing the one with the 3x9 more often than not. Most of my .22LR hunting is squirrel hunting in late season with no leaves on the trees. I like to be able to take those 40-50 yard shots with ease. The 3x9 helps me there. YMMV.

I use the same bag and a silk liner. I have slept well down to about 20 degrees with that setup in my undies inside a Seek Outside Lil Bug Out. I am a warm sleeper though. That is what I will be using for 3rd season. Down puffys will be along if I need more insulation.
I found this on a ridge while hiking. I have been scouring the web trying to find out what this came from, used google images, etc. I am visiting my taxidermist Monday to see what he thinks.
Any ideas?
I am late to the point game compared to many on here so when I started collecting some points a decade ago the writing was already starting to be placed on the wall as far as a the odds of ever pulling most of the OIL stuff and also a lot of the premium units for the deer, elk, and pronghorn...
I have quite a few… a lot of them are certain trees that I have spent tons of hours in. Out in the pastures hanging with my flock of sheep is another. It may be weird but something about roto mowing on my TN75 does it for me too.
