Yes. Just because people watch other idiots butcher the use of statistics doesn't mean that proper application and modeling is wrong. If you asked a simple probability question 99.9% of people would get it wrong.
I was just seeing places people (FWP, the public, whoever) can nitpick. I don't think that is being negative but realistic.
They also explained their (obviously well thought out) positions on my questions. Which was the point of my asking.
Just to be clear, I was just pointing out areas of clarification that I think could be easily attacked. I am fully behind this proposal but understand that there is a lot to overcome before implementation of all or even parts of it. The public comment should be book worthy.
@Gerald Martin I like it, it is very close to what I gave our region rep for the Feb meeting. I have a couple questions:
1. R6 and R7 get a ton more pressure than everywhere else. Are these going to be capped or does this proposal just accept that half of the state is going to want to hunt...
It looks like you don't have enough posts to open PM's yet. I think everyone can still see this page if they click on my profile. I believe you need 10 posts to get PM (it's under "Start Conversation" or something when you click on my username). So you'll need to post a couple of times more...
I think range management is an issue, but just saying it is "overgrazing" is way too simple. If you look at the history of some of the big WMA's, they were able to increase winter range production by grazing cattle at certain times of the year. It's a timing and intensity thing with cattle...
Man, I've been reading mule deer research for 12-15 years. That podcast is the single best compilation of mule deer information that I have ever seen or heard. I hope everyone takes an hour to listen to it.
I should say specific to R7 and R3, where I have hunted mule deer.
But UT is collaring deer in every unit studying all kinds of things. They actually know what is causing the population drops vs MT which, outside of big events, has no idea it seems.
I was just gonna post the same thing. I don't think FWP knows near as much across units as Utah does because we put in a fraction of the research effort. In 25 yrs of hunting, I have never seen a deer in MT with a collar. I have seen a couple elk. In comparison, I have seen several collared...
