Would you eat a CWD-positive animal?

That number is probably getting pretty large, but probably not as large as some might think. While CWD was first identified in 1967, it wasn’t found in the wild until 1981 in CO, and 1985 in WY. Because it increases in prevalence so slowly, I’m not sure people were eating thousands per year...

Would you eat a CWD-positive animal?

This seems likely. A) That’s one of the reasons that I process my own. B) If I ever need to use a processor, I will do so on the assumption that I will consume far fewer prions that came into contact my CWD negative meat than if I ate 60-250lbs of CWD positive deer or elk.

Would you eat a CWD-positive animal?

Casual contact doesn’t seem to spread mad cow or cjd, but it does transmit scrapie and cwd to deer an sheep. I guess time may tell on how CWD spreads to other species and how it behaves in those species.

Would you eat a CWD-positive animal?

Why? Cooking doesn’t damage the prions.

Would you eat a CWD-positive animal?

First bolded portion is absolutely not proven. Mad cow was treated this way in Europe, until it spread to humans. Second bonded portion is just inaccurate. The prions are in muscle tissue, just at much lower levels than in lymph nodes, nerve tissue and eyeballs.

    Sig Zulu 6 HDX

The only thing I know about them is that I just got back from a hunt, where I was at the truck and some guys pulled up on a side by side. They started glass the mountainside at a very extended range. One was using binos and says “there’s a buck…”. I said “dang. Those are some really good binos...

    Maven, Leupold, Trijicon, NF

I don’t have any problem with 50mm objectives. Many aren’t even particularly heavy. I would not be particularly hesitant with Maven. They don’t make anything. The buy from the same manufacturers as Vortex, Sightron, and NightForce. If they go under, there’s a fair chance of another brand...

    Question about felt recoil

My mistake. I was thinking a 7mag was bigger than that. That is the reason I put “I think” in parentheses. I don’t own one and didn’t have a manual around, or wifi.

    Question about felt recoil

Mass and velocity of the projectile are part of it, and mass and velocity of the burned powder is the other part of it. Rifle weight is another part of the equation, but that’s not exactly dictated by cartel she selection. A 7-08 might be using 40-45gr of powder, a 280AI could be somewhere...

    CWD Spreads To Elk.

Well that stinks. That information somewhat indicates that my earlier expressed hopes are not supported.

    CWD Spreads To Elk.

While I was aware that prevalence was usually lower in elk, I hadn’t put much thought into it. My biggest concern with CWD is that if it ever jumped to humans(mad cow sure did) or any other non-cervid species, that it might be easily transmissible from human to human the way that CWD and...

    Oh, the irony!

Having only city and state governments provide services to those outside of the city limits would be a train wreck. My interests cannot possibly be properly ascertained or met by state level politicians elected primarily voters living in major metropolitan areas. Issues like law enforcement...

    Oh, the irony!

I have not had time to read the entire 4 pages, and have mostly skimmed what I did read, but @BigFin definitely hit on what I believe to be a better political solution that I usually see proposed here. That is to disagree with people we voted for. I am represented in DC by some people who are...

    New scope for a 30/06

Depends on your demands. For hitting stuff a fixed 4X or 6X is very difficult to beat. You don’t need high power to hit a deer in the vitals, even out to 500+ yards. Fixed power scopes in the 4-6X range will be brighter and clearer than a variable for the money, and a good one will be brighter...

    Gallatin Canyon Wall Tent Homicide

Good grief. At what point should our FBI be held accountable for going along with that plan for so long? That guy should have been arrested long before he was.

    Bullet holes in paper

Lead pointed bullets, as well as some hollow points will do that. The ring is lead.

Of course. I was just pulling your leg.

    Bullet Failure?

I was not aware of any Berger offerings that were “all lead”. ;)
