I think in reality if you were just beginning the point game you would have to seriously consider a move to a friendly state. AK being the friendliest... chummy even. Recurve Shooting
Well I suffered a relapse under self induced pressure on the goat tag and ended up using the compound... no excuses except moral weakness. Used the recurve as a back up to the compound on Kansas w/t after said compound dropped from my lap and broke the biscuit upon landing. Doe only season... -
.204 ruger for headshots?
A lot of non-lethal stuff in the head, I would (and do) stay in the upper 8-10 inches of neck, and keep it at <50 yards. skin up to blood and call it good. 22-250 pretty near takes off the whole head anyway. -
Who's shooting a 45-70?
Slow 405's here (cast). Shoot through a 22" spruce log and well into a round bale of hay (3 for 3). Thankful llamas for that bale of hay that was there by accident. -

Special reqs for elk bow?
simple simplicity... Fewer gadgets, if putting on a gadget fewer parts/pieces on said gadget. Anything that is attached can and will come un-attached, anything with 5 parts will break one part/week during a 5 week hunt. 6 part gadgets will break 2/week during a 3 week hunt etc. Keep it... -

Gratuitous goat pics cause... I can. And they are just so COOL! I know some folks shoot the Twinkie goats. I just never quite understood that. It is a lot lighter to carry them out inside of your camera, that is certain.- squirrel
