Despite the odds, how many Sheep Tags have you Drawn or Won in your Life?

Well 4 so far, 3 CO archery (filled two) and WY. Not sure what the big deal is. Hope to draw #5 in a few weeks here now that I've gotten up to 3pts again. No sense in waiting after all. Mountains are getting steeper.

    Colorado Elk Highs and Lows

He. bluffed you folded, it is the nature of the game after all. Kenny said "if your gonna play the game boy you gotta learn to play it right". First you need evidence of sex naturally attached, cut them nuts off and heave 'em, there are better and cleaner ways to comply. Hunters are like...

An informed opinion on getting into sheep/goat draws?

I think in reality if you were just beginning the point game you would have to seriously consider a move to a friendly state. AK being the friendliest... chummy even. But you have to play to win and throwing enough poop at the wall is a strategy even if not exactly a high percentage play. It...

    Recurve Shooting

Well I suffered a relapse under self induced pressure on the goat tag and ended up using the compound... no excuses except moral weakness. Used the recurve as a back up to the compound on Kansas w/t after said compound dropped from my lap and broke the biscuit upon landing. Doe only season...

    .204 ruger for headshots?

A lot of non-lethal stuff in the head, I would (and do) stay in the upper 8-10 inches of neck, and keep it at <50 yards. skin up to blood and call it good. 22-250 pretty near takes off the whole head anyway.

    Who's shooting a 45-70?

Slow 405's here (cast). Shoot through a 22" spruce log and well into a round bale of hay (3 for 3). Thankful llamas for that bale of hay that was there by accident.

“Big 3” all from your home state

One complete, 2/3 of the second round is done, but it will have to be a cow as per regulation. 4 of the 5 with a bow but due to injury was forced to use a rifle on my OIL moose (bull). Still pisses me off about the timing of said injury... Have to use the recurve for a cow moose for extra...

    Special reqs for elk bow?

simple simplicity... Fewer gadgets, if putting on a gadget fewer parts/pieces on said gadget. Anything that is attached can and will come un-attached, anything with 5 parts will break one part/week during a 5 week hunt. 6 part gadgets will break 2/week during a 3 week hunt etc. Keep it...

38 days Living with Boy George???

Fixed a few typos and may need to re-word a few points for clarity, probably should work in a paragraph thanking Paul, I really couldn't have done this particular hunt in that particular basin without his logistical help of his girls. Pics are not showing up this morning on my screen hope my...

38 days Living with Boy George???

Actually it was a through shot, end to end. Came out 3" from his tail. But your point is valid, it hit the most critical stuff upon entry, not exit!

38 days Living with Boy George???

I followed very cautiously and saw my large billy showing no signs of any wound just 30 yards below me. This made zero sense until I could see he was staring with all his might at a very dead and bloody goat 15 yards in front of him. I pulled the camera out as he spooked, Im not sure which of...

38 days Living with Boy George???

The next morning I awoke to “do you really want to hurt me?” (yes, I did) I was determined to go in another direction and look into an entirely different drainage by going over a 13,100’ saddle and dropping down to a very high lake hanging onto the side of a 14,000’ peak. This very solid and...

38 days Living with Boy George???

And more, cause why not? It was pretty. The needles are incredible right up until they decide to kill you... I was rather counting on their benevolence sleeping in my "condom". Probably tempting them more than was prudent singing Boy George everyday.

Gratuitous goat pics cause... I can. And they are just so COOL! I know some folks shoot the Twinkie goats. I just never quite understood that. It is a lot lighter to carry them out inside of your camera, that is certain.

38 days Living with Boy George???

After a couple hours some goats came into view, 7 nannies and kids and started to scamper over the rocks in my direction. I went to get closer to them and they had disappeared into a fold of the rocks, as I looked in vain for them in the valley below they suddenly popped up right beside me and...

38 days Living with Boy George???

I knew from cold hard experience that the needles can shut down anytime after mid September, in the blink of an eye, they can be waist deep and deadly, especially up in the goat crags. Through some luck, some negotiation, and a cancellation due to injury I freed up a few short days in late...

38 days Living with Boy George???

All summer salad became the new standard fare, no bread, no sugar, little fruit, no snacks of any tasty substance. Fortunately the Princess joined me and made it easier to stick with it and of course she made it into a competition. Whoever lost the most that week got to choose our Sunday menu...

38 days Living with Boy George???

Many times while sitting on top of the world taking in all the rocky mountains have to offer I have thought to myself that I hope I do not know when it is my last trip into the Needles. I would be trying to pack in too much nostalgia, taking too many trips down memory lane so-to-speak, to just...

38 days Living with Boy George???

Usually I wait a while after a grand adventure to write the story. This allows what was important to bubble to the surface and what may have seemed important (at the time) to recede away if it was more on the periphery of what mattered. There are a few other stories, on this site, I believe...

Dogs Kill Deer in Jefferson County, Colorado

They do seem to prefer the "in" box instead of the "out" box.
