With a wife, three kids, and a son-in-law, plus keeping an eye on my dad's plans, I have almost unlimited options, but also almost unlimited conflicts. The two things at the top of my list right now are my dad drawing a decent bull elk tag in NE Oregon and kicking around a family trip to Wyoming...
One of the things I realized while climbing around the mountains this fall was that my feet are getting more clumsy and stumble-prone in rough terrain. I picked up a jump rope to see if that would help me be a little lighter on my feet. Anybody else ever try this?
(Obviously losing weight would...
My first deer was with my dad's old Husqvarna .308 and Bushnell scope. A few years later my wife shot her first few animals with that rifle, also. Since then my kids have all killed their first animals with scoped rifles. I think it makes the most sense.
I have also killed deer with open sights...
I understand the philosophies of free markets and all that, and I'm fine with it for business models and systems of government, but that ignores the intangible elements that drive sports culture. I'm not a Beavers fan because I make more money or see increased economic freedom and prosperity...
I cashed my 21 Oregon elk points this year to draw a rifle tag for the Wxxxxx Unit in the NE part of the state. For those not familiar, this is the highest demand rifle elk tag in the state and the one with the reputation for the biggest bulls. I didn't really start out saving for this unit, but...
Well then, my earlier prediction leads to:
Michigan
Washington
FSU
Alabama (but maybe Texas)
Not as simple as I thought it would be, of course.
The deeper question in my mind is whether you go with the teams that "earned it," particularly an undefeated, ACC champion FSU, or do you ask a bunch...
Only two games left, so only 4 possible outcomes:
Washington 4/4 IN
Alabama 4/4 IN
Michigan 2/4 In if they win
FSU 2/4 In if they win
Texas 3/4 In with a Michigan or FSU loss
Georgia 1/4 In with both a Michigan and an FSU loss
1) Will the committee put Alabama in ahead of Texas?
2) How far...
Since my analysis is worth what you're paying for it, I'm going to try to make a little more profit.
With 8 possible outcomes left, those numbers now look like:
Washington 8/8
Georgia 7/8
Alabama 4/8
Michigan 4/8
FSU 4/8
Texas 4/8
Ohio State 1/8
However, I adjusted for a couple of...
I think a one-loss SEC conference champion Alabama who beats Georgia today gets in ahead of a one-loss Big 12 conference champion Texas who beats Oklahoma State today, but it's a fair question. Do you think a one-loss runner-up Georgia falls below Texas if Texas wins?
QQ
For another way of looking at it, I plotted out all the permutations of the four Power 5 conference championship games being played today. Of the 16 possible outcomes, here is the number that gets each team into the playoff (in my simple estimation):
Washington 16
Georgia 14
Michigan 9
FSU 8...
I really don't think it's complicated (yet)....
Already in: Washington
In if they win: Georgia, Michigan, FSU
Also in if they win: Alabama--The big question is who they knock out. If there are three undefeated conference champs, then it has to be Georgia. If FSU or Michigan also loses, then...
