Congratulations to the both of you. If I can get all three of my children through college that will be one of my proudest moments. Two out of three so far.
I put a Hastings slug barrel on my bps years ago before my kids started youth deer hunting. Cantilever mount and a decent scope and use federal sabot slugs and I'm good to go. I used to take the barrel off ( with no issues losing zero)for other hunting but eventually bought another shotgun.
Everybody situation is different and there is no fail proof system. I started slow. BB gun at six. Learn to shoot it. Took them along on some hunting trips to get a feel for things and learn the process. Explain to them things that make your odds of being successful higher. Get them thinking...
Great write up and ram. Takes me back to my only real western hunt in the church. I realized how insignificant I was and how nothing in Iowa could ever compare to what I had just experienced.
I switched to the early season a couple years ago and really like it. I'm hoping with the later season this year maybe I can catch a mature one out in daylight hours. Cold weather would be nice. Good luck to all.
Looks like you had a good opening day. Sometimes I get used to watching them that I forget my true intentions. He would probably get a very close look up this way. You got more and bigger deer down that way so you can shop around more. Good luck this year.
