I’m getting the vibe that most contributors here have no interest in killing, or hunting an elephant.
Picture this……. elephants introduced into areas of the west.🤪 How long would it take before we saw preference point scams, high priced nr licenses, auction tags, governors tags and mossback...
If the tags are PLO and they are only good during regular elk seasons for that unit, I can see this being a good thing. Some elk are killed on the private, some get killed when they leave for public.
If they are unit wide and good for 3 months, it will make the problem worse.
Congrats on a beautiful looking piece of property. It's hard to describe the satisfaction that comes with owning your own piece of dirt. Sculpting a property and managing it for wildlife can become a passion that few appreciate or understand. Good luck this season and I hope we get to see some...
Max in all 3 hunts. Nothing for me. I didn't want one anyhow.
Should we start a thread about how the evil NR's are getting to many of our tags?:sneaky:
If going to regions is really about managing the elk herd, why is there no talk of residents going to the same region structure?
It's pretty easy to see this whole region scheme is about spreading out NR hunters and has little if nothing to do with managing elk.
The talk of changing quotas...
Read what the others have said. Also consider this region has a very high rate of CWD. If you are lucky enough to find a mature buck, there is a decent chance it will test positive.
Other than annoying you, what is the affect they are having on Wyoming?
NR elk tag numbers have a pretty strict cap.
Herd numbers are strong.
Bull quality seems ok.
Crossbows and lighted nocks.
Oh, he horror! Crossbows have been legal in Wyoming for 40 years, just Look what has happened to their elk herd.:sneaky:
I killed a second season Colorado bull a few years ago. I shot him right before dark in a heavy snow squall. My buddy and I got him broke down and layed out on a snowy log to cool. My buddy had killed a bull earlier in the day, and we elected to pack his out, and return for mine in the morning...
