I loved the fit/feel/function of my VX-6HD, but I just sold it after reading through too many of Form's tests on Rokslide. Expensive lesson, but at least it didn't cost me an animal.
Switching out slowly to Nightforce.
I have the 15x56 B5's and they are amazing. I routinely glass side by side with my buddy that runs Swaro EL's and the 95mm BTX setup. Obviously those are noticeably crisper, but not enough to pay twice the money and lose the awesome Maven warranty. If I drop the Maven's down a cliff I get a new...
They had a history of tight muzzle brakes needing to be bored out as well. Take off the brake and see if it shoots better or of it was loose. Then trade it in for a Tikka.
Selling my gently used (perfect glass) Sig Sauer bluetooth ballistic combo.
Scope is the Sierra3BDX 3.5-10x42mm scope with bluetooth electronic reticle.
Rangefinder is a Kilo1400BDX 6 power unit that pairs up to the scope (needs a new CR2 battery).
Warne Mountain Tech rings can be included...
Selling my like new (some small cosmetic scratches to the housing, but glass is perfect) Leupold VX-6HD 3-18x50mm Firedot scope. Used on one single day light hunt (no bushwhacking) and a few range days. Unused CDS custom turret still available, as well as Leupold's awesome lifetime warranty...
This topic came up a couple weeks ago - overwhelming consensus was everyone recommending just taking out the bolt and literally bore-sighting. I wasted money on Amazon lazer crap that was way worse than looking through the barrel....
My thoughts exactly. The true mark of a mass-production manufacturer is how they deal with the lemons. Do they make it right (#1), look for the easiest way to ignore you (#2) or flat out ghost you (#3). In my experience, Savage was #1, Bergara was #2 and Fierce was #3. Haven't had a bad Tikka...
Bergara WILL manage to get a 3-round group out of it using their weird ass DRT 175gr match ammo (no matter how many boxes it takes). They'll blame the shooter and ghost you.
My advice is to send it back so that you can sell it as a "proofed" rifle to recoup some of your cost, but stop wasting...
I have started buying solids, but I do believe that wearing clothing that wicks moisture and retains warmth is a safety issue if you get stuck out on the mountains late at night. Another reason I do like the fancy stuff. My Costco pants and puffys simply don't work as well in inclement weather...
I have plenty of Costco outdoorsy pants, but do love the built-in kneepads and tear resistance of my $itkas.
If I was more handy with a sewing machine I'd sew in kneepad pockets to Costco pants and call it a day.
Giant piles of money bring me no joy, but toys do! I doubt when I'm old that I'll enjoy piles of cash any more than now. My goal is to live life to the fullest while I'm young enough to enjoy it, not save until I'm 70 to do the things I wish I had done...
But I'm still hoping to make some smart...
