If you are an AR shooter, 6.8spc or 6.5g would get my vote for best whitetail. I have a 6.8spc and that's all I use it for. I'm going to try the 300BLKOUT this year. If you aren't shooting far that 300 with Subsonic ammo is really light recoiling. You have to be real selective with the ammo... -

What do you wear for hearing protection while big game hunting?
After spending most of my life in a helicopter behind a gun, my ears ring all the time. No sense in making it worse so I try to always use something. When I can I use my suppressor, Peltors or foamies on a string. Anything is better than nothing, the ringing is maddening -

Yes it is a gas gun. I should be close to that with the 16" rifles, maybe a little less with the 14.5s. The Barnes rep told me to expect max load to be around 30.5-31gr. I started at 29.2 and stopped at 30 in .2 increments. If things are looking promising with no pressure signs I might try...- Gojo03

Barnes 270/6.8 110 TSX
I loaded up some 95gr TTSX for my 6.8SPC last night. Gotta hit the range and see what powder charge my rifles like the most and load some for deer season this year. I've heard lots of good stuff about that specific bullet and the 6.8, I just hope it lives up to the hype.- Gojo03
