I don't know the area that well, but I believe that Bynum Reservoir and Piskun Reservoir are both close to Choetau. Not sure about Bass, but if memory serves they both have Walleye and northerns. Those may be a couple spots to start looking at.
My Dad has had great success with RL19, IMR 4831 and N550 out of his .300WSM with 180 Gr Partitions or Accubonds. I have had fantastic performance out of H4350 in my .325WSM. I think any of those would be fine options.
I reload with a Very similar RCBS Press, one thing that I noticed, when you go to seat your bullets, try to have a point of reference to be able to apply consistent pressure on each stroke of the press when seating slugs. I noticed that when I concentrated on applying consistent pressure each...
BigSky,
That bull should be fairly easy, especially with your skills with a jig. Next time you are out in the western part of the state give your jigs and some bigger baits a shot. Best success I've personally had color wise for bulls is yellow/yellow brown/yellow red and black. Not to say...
Have a lightly used set of 10x42 Leica Ultravids (non-HD). Only difference between the non-hd and the hd are some minor tweaks in the coatings. Same physical glass. Lightly used, OD green rubberized body. A few minor scuffs and dings from use. One lens has a couple of minor tics in the...
Just to clarify a bit. Since there is no true standard for what makes up a Match Grade Barrel, Any company, not just Kimber can claim a "Match Grade Barrel and Chamber" There is no industry standard of what actually makes a match grade barrels or (for most calibers) chamber. Without the specs...
I have run a .325WSM since 2006. On the second one at this point. The first rifle and I didn't get along that well... It has been an absolute Game hammer for me. I have been running 200Gr NAB's over H4350. Sub 1/2MOA accuracy out of a Winchester m70Sporter and velocities somewhere right...
LandDiver,
I am a Huge fan of the Winchester m70, in all it's iterations. They tend to be quite accurate and reliable. 7RM will do whatever you need it to. So you know. That rifle used by itself would probably sell for $1000 +/- a bit. A Gen 1 PST would probably be $400-500 used, Gen2...
I had a Kimber 8400 Classic in .325WSM. It started out as a great rifle, but I also had some Serious issues with Kimber's customer service after the barrel bulged about 100 rounds in. It has been several years since that happened; and I hope that things have changed, but I would recommend...
Interesting... In all reality, if he's not running a good magnum primer, that's probably at fault. About 1/2 of the reloading guides (including alliant powders) list CCI 200's or Winchester WLR primers for the .300WSM The velocity drop that would be required to bring a rifle off paper at 200...
This might turn into a rant, and will go off topic some. Just a heads up, ignore it if you want... Granted, I don't know everything about this topic, so my information may be a bit off... Just frustrated with fishermen basically getting blamed for AIS when anyone on the lake or river can...
I the top of my bucket list for Flyfishing trips in the US and Canada are:
1: Midnight sun Pike adventures, flyfishing for Pike on the Yukon River system in AK
2. Steelhead fishing the Skeena system in BC with swung dry flies
3. Watch the link..... 'Nuff said...
Interesting to note that Hornady does not currently make a 210gr slug... They do a 208 and a 212... The 212 is an ELD-x, but the 208 is the ELD or AMAX (target/match bullets). If it was a 208, that explains a lot, but even with the ELD-x, it's not a bonded bullet, basically just a long range...
