This post is somewhat of a hybrid. My wife and I will be headed out elk hunting this week in a new area. I have gone into the area a few times this fall/summer and have some areas scouted. I will be updating this post hopefully while out in the field but also wanted to see if anyone has hunted...
Howdy hoggyx
We are elk hunting up there in November. It will be the first time i have hunted in that area but work up there periodically. ATV trails are closed unless you are packing out an animal. I can get to plenty of places with 4wd truck if you don't mind some fairly rough roads. You sure...
my group of five drew 10 doe tags in western Wyoming. 4 out of 5 years now we will be at antelope camp. actually fewer people put in for doe tags in our unit than previous years. 37% chance this year!
South Central and eastern Idaho may be a good fit. Like others said very tough for conservation jobs. I was incredibly lucky to get a job in the field and remain in Idaho.
smaller towns-Arco, Rupert area, Dubois, Malad
fairly remote not many people with probably very minimal job opps. Howe...
Headed out in the am for the southern end of hells canyon. Have not hunted this area since '06 so I am hoping my spots are still good. Elk seem to be plentiful this year in idaho so I am hoping to harvest my first and a Bull to boot. Excited to be out of cell service. Dragging my boss and his...
no point system crap! We should have to sit out 4-5 years then we can put in for horns again. let some people cycle through. I would love to have my kids have a chance at drawing some nice tags.
Is it possible to take her on a hunt with you. Any type of slam dunk hunt you can do? My wife hunts with me 85% of the time so our girls are always with us. Our most successful easy hunts are wyoming antelope. Our girls love it. Our 8 year olds favorite part is actually cleaning and skinning...
Do it. Even if once it will be an experience you will remember. For all those that don't like crane please send yours my way. Just cooked some up Monday night and it was delicious.
1-pointer. BOY was supposed to come with but never picked up a tag. Hopefully next year. Come on out.
Will post pics when i get it back (6-12 months). Cooked up the meat tonight and it was sure delicious.
We can only take 2. Just bought one tag though. Struck out last year so didn't want to cough up the extra 15 bucks for a second tag. Should have but oh well.
Buddy and I shot our first sandhill cranes today in Idaho. We were sharing a field with a lady trying to shoot one with a bow. We let 2 groups fly right over us to give her an opportunity since they landed very close to her. Don't think she connected but we couldn't let the 3rd group fly by...
Congrats on drawing the tag. 76-3 is a tough unit for moose. A friend and I had cow tags there a few years ago. I was very familiar with the area and we had trouble finding moose. We spent 4 days in the unit and saw 2 moose- a cow and calf that we could not pass up. Did see one set of bull moose...
