Buying local firewood is a gem of a tip and I am going to put that in my toolbox for this September. Thank you for the nugget.

    Hobbies other than hunting?

Hiking, camping, traveling, working. Spending as much time as I can with my family when I am not at work is all that matters to me. Any event we do together is always fun and an adventure. If I had my choice and was single. I would be living spring/summer/fall in AK and hunting and fishing as...

    Im bowing out

To give you some insight out east Tennessee. This is backwoods Appalachia near a larger city. We oringinally paid $160k for our 2000 sq ft D-log cabin on a mountain, on a lake in 2017 just after the big Great Smoky Mountain National Park Fire that burned 2500 cabins and thousands of...

    Packraft Hunting - Have Questions?

My wife and I plan on buying two rafts to allow us lake and stream access while both hunting and camping. Our plan is to keep it in our Travel Trailer since it will most likely be our home away from home while traveling.

    MT FWP app

AFTER my wife and I completed our entires into the Elk Big Game Combo draw for "paper tags", we decided to get the app. I don't trust new technology and the paper tags will make it feel more "real". When we put in for the NR Elk Combo PP draw this year, we went ahead and purchased all the other...

Podcast Episodes on Public-Private Property Rights at Intersecting Corners

Randy and group, As a easterner, this is a very intersting topic. I have known for years about the checkerboard but always proceeded with caution not to infringe on the "rights of landowners". I never considered that the population of the US and federal government as soveriegn and landowner as...

    Montana Elk Unit 412

Sis year old post. Doubtful anyone will respond. Your best bet is to talk with your friend who owns the ranch. They probably have some insight into where the elk are going to be during the same time you will be there for mule deer.

Colorado GMU 86 elk and deer

@JAG recommend sending the folks who hunted this unit a PM to see if they have information. Calling out a unit by name and location will only bring in a lot more hunting pressure into the area you are looking at hunting.

Colorado over the counter for 2022

Well the Flat Tops will be blown out this year. Looks like a lot of new HT'ers will be on one side of the unit. Guess I will just keep using the Colorado CPW website hunt planner and keep to myself as always. Crazy how active everyone is about CO this year. Gotta love OTC rifle elk hunts.

    New Mexico Landowner Tag resell?

Sounds like a great way to guarantee an elk hunt. I have never even looked into this option before. I knew it existed but assumed all those tag vounchers would be going for "premium" money. And no hunt is a sure thing nowadays, not even an outfitted $25k hunt in the wilderness through some big...

    Thoughts on Kuiu products (clothing)?

I am an athletic fit 5' 10", my wife is 5' 4" and "medium" post-children build. We use KUIU exclusively. I own most of their products from merino to synthetic base layers, pants, puffies (Both synthetic and down) and all of the various jackets, and under layers. Best of the best. Tiberon pants...

You draw one tag next year…

For my wife, Yukon Moose. For me, Caribou in AK. These are dream hunts for us. In reality, any General Elk or LE Pronghorn I can draw in the next three years.

    Sh*t our wives do...

My wife makes it a point to tell all the "men" in the house that they are "no good at doing dishes and to just leave them". Neither my two adult sons or myself have done dishes in over two years since she has "claimed the kitchen as her domain". She also has told me that my placce is in...
