I've read great things about Leicas but they are obviously more expensive. which model did you get (probably discontinued now)
I've also read good things about SIG rangefinders but heard some of them failed in the field (which is never ideal)
thank you good sir
for someone who hates math, do you calculate draw odds by:
total quota is X% of 1st choice applications + 2nd choice applications
total quota is X% of 1st choice applications only
I can't seem to find a list of units offering these reduced price cow tags. Additionally, is there a list of draw odds for these tags?
Are you able to obtain a type 6 reduced cow tag in a general elk unit or are they only available in limited quota units?
yea but LQ tags are pretty easy for Wyoming to get and with unit 8 being within 2 hours of 2 of the 3 biggest cities in the state, it will still get a lot of crowds IMO
-want to range targets (deer & elk) out to 400 yards -- though it would be nice to range out to 900 yards just to know distances
-elevation difference calculations important
-quick & effective
-budget up to $600, but always like saving money if not sacrificing quality too much
with the proximity to Cheyenne & Laramie, I imagine the general units of the Snowies & Sierra Madres get very crowded -- probably moreso than other general units
I'm beyond jealous. I wish I was still a resident because as a nonresident that unit takes more than 10 points easily to have a decent chance at drawing
I was doing some basic projections last night. Apply for both WY general with 1 point (myself, father, and wife & at least a puncher's shot at one of us drawing) & applying for cow tags. Then also also applying for CO 1st rifle tags.
If we draw in Wyoming and deem it a better value, the...
which hunt do you think would offer a better experience. Looking for meat & a good time with my father. I know both will have crowds but which one would be less crowded?
the 1st rifle is before the 2nd OTC season (which I do not want to do). I figure the 1st rifle would offer a lot less hunters...
did you research that unit before applying? it has crazy hard access to public land. big reason why draw odds are so high in that unit. a ton of private and landlocked public

I'd love to learn more about your plans for renting an off road capable vehicle. Are you going through a rental company like enterprise or hertz or a different route?
