Coming up outa Nevada. I'm looking into a spot and stalk hunt last week in May. Area 49 probably east of Hwy75 between Hailey and Ketchum. Any thoughts? Tips? Possible bear numbers? Should I plan on having a wolf tag too?
Thinking about trying for a 2016 Nevada bear. If anyone has any information or recommendations they would like to pass along I'd be grateful. I'm located in Spring Creek, so a scouting trip wouldn't be out of the question, but probably only one short one.
Ever watch dogs together, when they show their dominance they pin the other to the ground by the throat until the offender stops moving and shows submission by lifting a hind leg. Do the same, when the biting starts tell the pup no, if it doesn't stop pin him/her to the ground until they stop...
Had much the same problem applying for spring Javelina, everything went through alight, but we couldn't print our licenses, or view anything through the profile. When we called they said they couldn't get into the system to print our licenses. Finally when things got close they hand wrote the...
I think my initial post disappeared. I Hunted I think Montana 316 near Wise river for spring bear in 2015, I stumbled across a smaller bear and brought him home, but I'm thinking about a return trip for a bigger specimen. Would I be better in one of the units further North? Seemed like talking...
Sounds to me other than game bags and maybe a pack frame to get the meat out you have what you need to go hunting. Started out hunting with my Dad, rifle, knife on the belt, hank of rope tied around the waist, some snacks in the pockets of the Levi jacket and matches in the pocket of the Levi...
Yea, spottin them is the hardest part. Kinda like spot and stalking jackrabbits in tall sagebrush. Once spotted usually not to hard to get in on em, But don't let anyone tell you they can't see past a 100 yds. may not be as sharp as deer etc. but they will catch movement.
Just found out my brother and I drew Archery Javelina in AZ. I look forward to this hunt more than any as it's just a fun, enjoyable hunt, and Arizona in January beats NE Nevada hands down.
Only problem we've got so far AZ Game and Fish updated their web site this year and as of yet we...
I carry a range finder at all times when hunting, though I rarely seem to have the opportunity to actually use it. When I do it's sometimes really hard to locate the animal in the small field of view. Why not replace the optics with a camera with zoom like in a cell phone. That way you could...
I don't know much about this deer, a guy I work with said his buddies, son, stepson, third cousin or something got this deer in area 6 Hope I'm not stealing the thunder from someone else going to post, but I figure if they were going to they would have done it already.

Just a little known fact before hunting season some of you may not know. those little bottles of powder for checking the wind are actually dual purpose. If you hold the bottle with the label facing you and give a squeeze it indicates the wind direction, BUT if you hold it with the back towards...
I'll be turning 59 in August. though I never have been a backpack hunter, I still hunted fairly hard from a base camp. I still have adapted from my earlier years, I wear out the seat of my pants from sitting and glassing more than I do the soles of my boots now days. The success of a hunt is...
Big Fin you said " Had I even the slightest clue as to how one takes care of a pronghorn during the drying period, both the NV and NM bucks would probably retained at least 1.0-1.5" of mass. Stupid me." Please elaborate on the proper care during the drying period?????
I'm used to more open country, spot and stalk, or still hunting through open timber, not sure I could do the tree stand thing. Looking for maybe an OTC tag or draw with good odds. I would like to shoot a whitetail but I'm not going to apply for years to get one.
