Elk appear to be content grazing yummy green stuff at the moment. Mature bull showed little interest in female counterparts. Maybe tomorrow evening. Will keep you updated.
Ya ya ya my group sucks. It was a 15 mph cross wind at 90 yards with low light. I think my eyes are starting to fail...
Bummer. Had to look them up to see what your talking about. Just from a quick glance it looks like this broadhead would plug up with hair/flesh and rib bone too easily. A good elk broadhead has to be able to punch a rib and keep on trucking. I shoot g5 Montecs or nap hell razors.
Pick up any double bull. Make sure it has an aluminum frame rather than plastic. Aluminum holds its shape when tweaked for shape and latex tension. Double bull with loose tension gives you a deeper tone then a light single.
Unless your trying to call in junior, do yourself a favor and throw away the calls. Maybe keep a diaphragm in your mouth to "stop" for the shot is about it.
Just for the record this is not my style of hunting. I'm 100% DIY till I'm dead in the ground. I think some good points have been made but this has turned into a personal attack. If you have a problem with this then you should go after the source being who offers the governors tag. You know...
The fact that you post crap like this and then keep egging it on speaks for your childish behavior. Keep beating the dead horse...you seem to be real good at that.
Well Then I guess you better bag on anyone who has ever taken an elk or bison anywhere remotely close to YNP. BTW I suppose you don't apply for either MD unit in the root.
I have hunted it alot and hold a few good spots for future. Billy creek is a great start. Don"t hesitate to hike all the way to the top against the private....good things will await you!
Maybe hit up Sweet nectar for permission on their ranch next door. The unit as a whole holds a ton of elk. The Durfees is not all that it is cracked up to be. Success rate with archery is about 10% in there.
