Lol! 308 win bullets do more than bounce off at 550, they completely disintegrate and ring steel like crazy. -

308 is plenty adequate and plenty accurate enough. No caliber can make up for poor shot placement. Here is my shot string from last weekend. 550 yard 1" group. (1/8 MOA) -

I was intentionally buzzed at less than 100 feet by the wilks chopper last year while I was attempting to hunt an elk. The chopper banked and circled low three times. They patrolled the BLM low and loud on a regular basis.- wingman1

Just keep in mind the lower is composite on the CM15. You could build a lot better AR for that price. -
Rem 700 Extraction Issues
More than likely a tight neck or bullet jam into the lands. Verify oal and and neck clearence. Might find that you have to turn the necks. -

Small Game/Varmint Caliber Preference
You really can't go wrong with any of the mentioned cartridges. I own at least one of each cal mentioned and my favorite is the 204 and a close second is the 223 rem. Both solid 400 yard guns. Youth hunt was a blast
Still killing ducks on the west side of the state. Had a opportunity to introduce duck hunting to a fine young man today. We had lots of ducks finish and fly away unscathed but all in all it was a blast hunting with these two youngsters.- wingman1

If possible get the 783. They have a 30.00 dollar rebate right now. I'm into a 308 win for 270.00 bucks and it shoots 1/2 MOA right out of the box. 2 lb trigger and aluminum pillars. How can you beat that. -
