Yeah, resident fees would maybe need to go up also. I don’t see how we ever get out of this situation with unlimited NRs and high NR allocation if we aren’t willing to force CPW to take some financial hit along with an associated decrease in services. Whether that is less CPW personnel, less...
Our resident fees are now on the higher end while nonresident fees are not. CO NR deer tag is ~$400 vs MT $600+. If (big if) CO ever limits NR elk tags, demand throughout the west will increase dramatically as we are the biggest supplier by far, which means our chitty elk tags will be more...
Apparently the elk situation in unit 14 is dire as there are only 183 rifle PLO cow tags valid for all of Dec. on the leftover list right now. Best limit the public land hunters before the elk are gone. Sarcasm above.
I live in a state with a game agency that spends (or did at one time) money...
That’s what I would expect from them and the reason I would like to get my hands on it. Being able to point out any BS might help the cause as the commission seems deaf to the fact that CO has by far the highest NR allocation and that updating the list of unit under the 80/20 split would of had...
No need to paste your email. I’m just wondering what is being sent to the commission that makes them kick the can/barrel down the road again and again.
As we will get to participate in this sham public involvement process again next year, I’m just wondering if someone may be submitting comments...
Atleast this commission is giving resident hunters the middle finger on an annual basis in regards to allocation instead of once every five years like previous commissions.
I honestly though there was a good chance for the units under 80/20 split to be updated as the financial hit was nil. I...
They are proposing to reduce or raise the objectives to levels they think are biologically attainable for each unit, not to make room for another species. The UDWR website has a lot more details than the Gohunt article. Basically, they have range monitoring sites that indicate in some units the...
I have the same gun, but haven’t had any issues. If you haven’t cleaned it, the primer may have been prevented from seating fulling and may have been dented when you closed the breech. That’s not good as it could go off if you closed the breech hard enough. I’m not saying this is what happened...
I don’t have first hand experience with them, but I’ve been told that if your gun’s bore is .501 or smaller, they are very hard to load. My gun’s bore is .500 and I was advised to not even try the one size fits all for that reason.
It looks like your map only includes elk hunt codes. If you add in the units where deer permits take 5 + points there will be a lot more blue units (21, 44, 54, 55, 67, etc).
The one thing that I got out of watching the discussion was that only one commissioner (McDaniel) commented about CO’s...
Yeah, maybe? I got the impression he somehow thought that adding hunt codes to the 80split somehow mandated a change in mgmt, which I don’t believe is the case. Yep, the outfitters (commissioner Haskett) will likely loose clients.
I don’t think the original intent matters now. The R/NR split...
FFS. I just watched to the allocation discussion. Prenslow babbling about a change to quality mgmt needing to involve local communities which has nothing to do with allocation. Commissioners talking about using 10 or 12 points instead of 6 to keep 41 hunt codes at 80/20 which accomplishes...
Why would she even suggest this?
If it is due to all the deer A tags on the east side still on the list, CPW should work to increase access in those units. We don’t need to let people shoot multiple bucks/year when demand exceeds supply. Our commissioners are extremely frustrating at times.
I don’t have a lot of experience with No Excuses bullets, but the 420 grain in my CVA shot much better when I started using either a wool or veggie wad between the powder and bullet. Groups shrunk from 6” to 3” at 100 yrds with the wad. Also, they shot best with lighter charges of powder, 75...
Your timing isn’t very compatible with hiking in the mountains. It might be fine if we get a dry fall, but I wouldn’t count on Ice lake trail being an option that time of year. You could try fishing the San Juan River in NM below Navajo dam. Navajo reservoir might be an option also. The Animas...
I expect I-70 through Glenwood Canyon to be closed frequently through the fall and winter. With how strep the terrain is through the canyon, rock fall and mud slides seem likely, if it ever rains again.
