A man never tells. Let's just say draw odds were really low with only 2 points.

It's a pretty terrible place to hunt. Hardly any animals and they're all small. ;)

Guess I'm heading to AZ later this fall! Either a late rifle tag or a late archery tag, both are great units. Can't wait!

2018 is over and it was awesome, but 2019 is already shaping up to be fantastic as well. There's no off-season.

I hope it keeps raining in AZ. I have 2 elk bonus points thrown into the ring. I have really high hopes. ;)

Dan's hunting the special Eglin Range hunt, and he did something he's not known for.... He actually passed a legal buck! I can't imagine the amount of will power it took for him, but I have to say... I'm proud.

You should volunteer for Cannon and tell your wife you got non-vol'd... It's totally plausible that you'd get non-vol'd here, and unless she's a personnelist, she has friends at AFPC or she reads this thread, she'll never know. ;)

I'm in Clovis, NM. Pretty far away from reliable shed hunting, but still within one if the best states to hunt.... If you're lucky enough to get a tag. And yes, Dan and I are both active duty Air Force.

Thanks guys. It's one of the coolest bear mounts I've seen. It was made by Jim Beenken out of Eagle River, WI. He carves most (if not all) of his own forms. It's pretty cool knowing that the mount is truly a one of a kind form. He did a great job.

Unfortunately this job took me further from the mountains than my last job. I was in great shed hunting territory within a 30 minute drive at my last place, now I have to drive at least 3 hours. I didn't take the job for better hunting opportunity, I took it for a bit more responsibility, a...

I'm mostly moved into the new house. Our new furniture won't be here for a few more weeks, but I got my most valuable decor hung up and placed throughout the house. I haven't even cracked open the boxes of sheds yet.... I think they'll end up on my desk at work. Once I get a...

He was a scrapper for sure. He was covered in bruises and overall just looked run down and tired.

Day 8, down to the wire: The biggest advantage to these late season hunts is the late sunrises. It's especially nice after a week of hard hunting and late nights. We weren't it too much of a hurry to get things started on the last day, but we also knew we didn't have much time to get things...

Day 7, back to The Pit: We had a new guest and first time bowhunter, Greg, in camp on day 7, and we decided the most appropriate way to welcome him to the sport would be to drag him into the pit. The morning was completely uneventful. We only saw 2 does, a fawn, and the same group of javelina...

Day 6. "Slow start, but a sprint to the finish" Ryan's dad got back to camp on day six, so we were back at full strength. The plan was to check out our best pig spot. Ryan, Jeff and Steve carried longbows with pigs being the main goal for them. I carried my compound in case we found a buck...

Day 5, "Why won't the wind stop?": 530 came quickly after a long night of laughs and a couple few drinks with good friends. The wind didn't stop. In fact it was blowing stronger than it did the day before. The plan was to drive to a completely new area and glass some steep, south-facing...

Day 4, Entering "The Pit": The wind shook the camper all though the night, and was still a nuisance after we woke. Day 4 was opening day for 2019 deer and javelina. We figured out best bet of finding any animals was going to be in what we refer to as "The Pit." The Pit is a series of...

Day 3 (last day of the season, beginning of my troubled electronics): Weather was moving in and we knew the deer would be out and about before it precipitated on us. So we went back to the mesa we chased the nice 4x4 the day prior. We didn't find the guy, but a new group of deer with 3 decent...

He was the biggest buck I've ever stalked with a tag in my pocket. Definitely got the blood pumping whenever I looked and him through the glass. Last year was much different. We weren't prepared for how cold it was. Last year we were sweating in tshirts. This year I didn't have enough puffy...
