    Average Joe's 2020

It's dry they say... Sit water they say... You tell me which water looks best to you? The rut action is not really happening yet. This morning was the first morning I had bulls bugling past a half hour after sunrise. I've found a few really good bulls and a handful of raghorns, but haven't...

    Average Joe's 2020

Thanks buddy! We've been radio silent because neither of us have done anything yet. Lol. We're semi locked down and busy with family, work and life. This is the first year that hunting hasn't been my #1 priority, and honestly I'm okay with that. All of you guys know what's really important in...

    Average Joe's 2020

Here's one project I was able to get some work done on during the shutdown. I bought a 45cal smokeless muzzleloader barrel for one of my savage actions. She's hefty, but the weight and muzzle brake keep the recoil tolerable. I'll be using these 300gr Arrowhead XLD bullets in front of a...

Welp... It's that time again! We've been holding off on starting this thread until we knew whether or not either of us would even be able to hunt this year.... DoD and COVID are trying to throw all sorts of wrenches in our plans. Dan and I have acquired a few good tags for this fall and hope...

    Average Joe's 2019

Boy.... Life's been, uh, busy to say the least. Dan and I both took on more responsibilities at work. In addition to increased workload, we've both had personal issues that needed to be tended to, and as we all know when life gets busy you have to prioritize and execute the most important tasks...

Didn't get away: before and after

Called in a bull from a few ridges over for my buddy. Since it wasn't huge and there were other bulls bugling, my buddy said, "I'm only going to shoot him if he comes right over here." Well... That's exactly what happened.

Didn't get away: before and after

I got a few dozen pics of my AZ bull before I killed him. Still can't believe I was able to walk across that open hillside and get in bow range.

I think you should load it in 7mm-08 at least 😉

4 years still waiting on my buck. How long is too long?

I'd pick your deer up and take it somewhere else.

Recommendations for Elk Hunt - New Mexico

First off, you can answer most of your own questions by visiting the NM Game and Fish website and reading the regulations. http://www.wildlife.state.nm.us/hunting/ You should contact some outfitters and consider applying for the draw with them. It'll increase your odds of getting a tag...

Thanks! The whole experience was truly outstanding and something I'll cherish for a long time. That said, I'm also kinda like Bill Belichick, and I'm already on to the next one. 😏

As far as the rest of the season goes, the only major things I have left are NM barbary sheep & rifle javelina, and AZ javelina & OTC archery deer. There's a couple other things potentially in the works, but nothing set in stone.

Got the skull taken care of yesterday. Pretty dang good 2019 elk season for me. It'll be tough to top this one. Not sure why the dog decided to lay in the middle, but I wasn't going to tell him to move. Haha.
