Do not over think it, go to colorado this fall 2nd season. Pick a random unit, hunt the way you always dreamed a elk hunt should be. Base camp/spike/truck whatever you want but just have fun. Buy boots and pack everything else just use your deer stuff, go! At end of trip you will be so better... -

Sleeping bag liner
I like the theory of them, but the actual usage I don't care for. I am a hot sleeper and I liked they pull moisture off my body and kept my bag significantly cleaner. Why is shed hunting so popular now?
I do a lot of "shed hunting" but it's just a excuse almost a purpose for hike in beautiful country after a winter of being cooped-up plus I am horrible at it. I 90 east of Gillette detour
Fires everywhere over there, roads from MT line (wy59) all the way down to Kaycee (wy192) are closed for all these fires. game sled, roll-up/packable type any good?
I packed my entire bison out quarter at a time using a pelican sled on dry ground. The trick is get the narrow version and re-enforce/route pull rope around entire rim of sled to spread out weight. It's hard on sled bottom on dry ground but same sled even with its holes has packed out several...- ccc23454
