I think the biggest mistakes I see from people coming out to hunt elk for the first time is that they are not mentally or physically prepared for what it takes to consistently kill elk. A typical day of elk huntin for me involves hiking anywhere from 5 to more than 15 miles with anywhere from...
I've looked through all 3 side by side and have the NL. The biggest advantages the NL has over the EL is the FOV, ergos, and for some people the fact that they relaxed the field flattening a little. I'm sure there are technically advantages with chromatic aberration, edge to edge clarity, light...
Also, for the last month or so the roadless layer is only appearing about 50% of the time I use the web app. I'm using Chrome and sometimes I can get it to reappear by refreshing the page a number of times.
I was told by one of your employees at an event in Bozeman during the summer of 2018 that we would be able to select both the resolution and size of our offline maps by that fall (ie. 10 mile width at high resolution, etc). Is this something that is coming?
The Gun Bearer is the best option out there IMO. Been using it for about 20 years between the universal and the Kifaru specific one. If it's rolling on you then something isn't adjusted properly.
I got mine today. My first impression is that they're pretty good glass, but I wouldn't quite put them up there with true alpha glass. Theyre a little soft around the edges for my liking. Definitely worth the price at ~ $800, but if they were much over$1k I'd probably just get the Meoptas or...
I just ordered my binos today and have to wait for them to get here to submit the form for the tripod because you need the serial number. From what I can tell from looking at it it'll work just fine buying from Euro Optic. There's even a link to the form from the listing on Euro Optic.
I ended up picking ordering one from Euro Optic. For the price I figure if I don't like them I can sell them and I'm not really out much. BTW Leupold has an offer going through Sunday where if you buy a Santiam bino or spotter you can get a free tripod they claim is worth like $380.
I've herniated 3 discs in my lower back and gone through surgery, etc. Make sure the weight is off your shoulders. I'd personally avoid all the packs you listed and look at the Cabinet, Pintler and Sawtooth if you're set on Mystery Ranch. Were it me, I'd look at SG, Kifaru, Exo as well and find...
With all due respect, if anyone is hunting somewhere where their hunt can be negatively impacted by the legal use of an ATV by another hunter (or non hunter for that matter), then the fault is that person's alone.
I'd ensure you have the right rings and bases before you worry about shimming. I believe there were some actions over the years that required different ring heights than others. It's also possible the front and rear rings are swapped.
Fair enough. The USA made is a big thing. I'm not sure where the SG bags are made, but I suspect you're right that they're made overseas as I know their clothing is imported. The only reason I'd really consider the SG over the WM is as a dedicated bag for hunts where moisture may be a problem...
