    Non-typical Waterfowl Dogs

I’ve got an old rescued border collie that’s retired, but he’s hunted and retrieved quail, pheasant, duck, dove, every thing up to a goose basically. Retrieving and flushing was definitely his strong suit. Not a good nose though.

    Non-typical Waterfowl Dogs

I have 2 English Setters (Llewelyns). A few weeks ago another hunter had wounded a shoveler in a ditch and their dogs wouldn’t go in after it. Both my setters are birdy as can be, one retrieves fairly well, but they’re pathetic swimmers. I coaxed Mae into the cold water and she kept after the...

    American prairie. What's the issue?

    Wouldn’t surprise me.

    American prairie. What's the issue?

That tracks. My wife’s uncle ranches a couple thousand acres in SE Montana, is very anti APR, and he’s sitting on 90 years of old junk. I think if I were him I’d be a lot more pissed about a handful of companies controlling and hogging all the profits from the sale of cattle and only giving a...

    American prairie. What's the issue?

Funny how no one likes people being obscenely wealthy and buying up all the land. But then a good chunk of those people will vote for folks that help make the rich even wealthier without a thought in the world cause they’re all riled up about something like the APR or whatever the flavor of the...

    American prairie. What's the issue?

You just pivoted from “in a few years” to “in a few generations”. Sounds like even you don’t believe what you said that first time…

    Great Social Media posts?

Worked there in HS. It was incredible how often people would set shit on fire by not following instructions 😂

    American prairie. What's the issue?

So in a few years when nothing happens will you guys admit you were duped and were full of it all along? Not trying to be a jerk…I’ll do the same thing if it happens to go the other way. I don’t think it will though…

    Bigtime poaching bust in WY

I was in Ten Sleep not long after they got busted. Folks there idolized the Carters still, when I brought up the poaching they mostly all said “we don’t like to talk about that”. I guess I’ve never been afraid to be the turd in the punch bowl. Edit: Forgot a fun fact…Brokeback Mountain took...

Housing Appreciation and Inflation: Future Outlook?

Losing some is still a hell of a lot better than renting in most cases. You’d have to lose a lot to come out worse than renting I would think. Not being able to sell is a valid concern.

does anyone still hunt with ww1 or ww2 rifles

Haven’t pulled it out in years, but I started hunting with a Springfield 1917 Eddystone. I killed a number of deer and pronghorn with it. My grandpa had put different iron sights on it than what it originally had, but it still has irons. One of these days I’m going to try and make it more original.

    What are your Signature Dishes?

I think the 3 things I’d be known for is steaks, biscuits and gravy and Hungarian Goulash. If you guys want a killer goulash recipe, google Jo Cooks Hungarian Goulash. You can sub game meat for the beef in the recipe. Sometimes I even throw in a breasted pheasant and bone in pheasant legs...

    Kansas Muleys

I’ve got family in Hill City and I’ve spent a fair bit of time in NW Kansas for a NR. My great uncle started the local DU chapter up there and ran a bar in Hill City for many years. There’s a carp derby that he organized that they named after him when he passed away a few years back. My family...

    American prairie. What's the issue?

Funny how ranches don’t care about their cattle breaking down someone’s fence, eating someone else’s grass and crapping all over their property. Something tells me they wouldn’t take kindly to me tearing through their fence, trespassing and then taking a dump in their front yard. And then...

    American prairie. What's the issue?

Yeah, I take full responsibility for maintaining the fence between me and the one ranch. Not only because that’s the way the law works, but because it’s a part of our HOA. Everyone that borders any of the ranches are supposed to keep their fence up since nobody wants cattle in the subdivision...

    American prairie. What's the issue?

I can also open my fence and let the two ranches who let their cattle go wherever they please sort it out since that’s how they want to operate. But I won’t do that, I’m the one that’s not a friggin multi millionaire that’s gonna replace fences on other peoples property in the subdivision so I...

    American prairie. What's the issue?

I believe the answer to your question if found in the second sentence that you replied to where I said I’m ignorant to such things.

    American prairie. What's the issue?

I hate the fence out rule. I have undeveloped property in an old subdivision, nestled between three ranches and National Forest. My little place has three unfenced sides other than the one existing fence that’s already there between me and the one ranch. I keep the one fence on my place wildlife...

    Wine whine

My wife loves the Apothic Red that you can get at just about every grocery store and gas station that sells booze in America. I dig it too, and it’s cheap. Take everything I say with a grain of salt though, I’ve probably drank more pre 21 Boone’s Farm than anything as far as wine goes in my...
