First one I ever saw was in Cheyenne, back before they finished Story when it was still partially completed. It’s a subdivision now, literally someone’s living room or back yard sits where I saw my first mountain lion.
Yeah the one I killed in Scotland was like 10 years old and looks more like a rag horn elk than anything, although he is crowned on the top with beautiful black antlers and white tips. Wish I had a picture on my phone to share.
It’s really hard to say man. I’ve got a road going into my property, the upper part is fine when wet and the lower part is slick as snot with a little moisture. It’s only like 5 miles long so conditions change quickly.
I got nailed by a hailstorm in SE Wyoming this year well away from the truck in the middle of helping my buddy field dress his pronghorn. That was after getting nailed by a hard rainstorm the day before while field dressing mine.
Not fun.
Mine always says “let me know if I start acting like my mom.”
Only had to take the bait and step on that land mine once to learn that that really means the exact opposite of what it sounds like.
Yep. Downside of that is half the time I get to work and several hours in I realize my fly is down. Only seems to happen when I get dressed in the dark.
I worked for an outfitter years and years ago that sold hunts at a preserve in another state on top of his outfitting for actual hunting. I never missed a chance to express my opinion on it. I got fed the same line of BS about how big the place was, it’s actually like hunting blah blah blah...
Not sure if it matters honestly. Completely different habitat conditions. Might as well get used to more and more bird stocking just like fish stocking. That’s the way it’s going to go.
You're right. I shouldn’t have said first, what I meant was the ones that actually took. I swear PF had an article about it or something. All I can find is the first successful introduction of ringnecks and the dude that brought them to Oregon and how many. Doesn’t say if they were wild or farmed.
Don’t know the history of Montanas pheasants, but I’m pretty sure the original birds that came to America were wild birds that were caught.
I would suspect it was wild caught birds that were established in Montana too. Either way, habitat conditions were way better for pheasants back then.
I...
Yeah, folks at the Pentagon were real pleased when he was acting like he was paying the whole bill all along out of the kindness of his heart while he was cashing their checks. Just another lying ass billionaire cashing a govt check, what a shocker.
But what it will do is create a sort of dependency. Look at Wyoming’s pheasant program, it’s one of the more popular things the GF does. I’d way rather we put all that money into habitat and access, but I’m in the minority, and I’ll damn sure get out and kill those pheasants, and enjoy it, even...
I would’ve been so tempted to be like, “excuse me ma’am, before you leave would you mind pulling back on this while I get this knife around here real quick…”
