McBride fire, just north of 6,000 acres but mostly closer to Ruidoso I believe. There was a Nogal Canyon fire as well, but much smaller. Both are mostly contained
Yes, secondary management zone private elk tags are supposed to be private land only. Currently 34 is a primary zone so they issue quite a few unit wide tags to landowners, which can be used on public or private.
Just saw the following from the 4/11/22 Game Commission Meeting:
All of GMU 34 would go to unlimited over-the-counter private land licenses for elk if the Commission agrees to redesignate the unit as Secondary Management Zone. In addition, NMDGF wants to further increase the GMU 34 cow...
.270 barrel Go Mai knife and leather sheath. Finished the sheath today, which is my first. Still need to put an edge on the knife.
I started making knives a little over 2 years ago with this knife as my goal. I had a .270 barrel that was blown out and wanted a knife, but was too cheap to...
Wait, you mean I'm not supposed to throw an entire un-skinned antelope/deer/elk in the bed of my dark colored pickup truck in 90+ or 100+ degree heat and drive back to Texas?
I always do. As JR pointed out, NM has a way of eating tires and replacing one tire will more than make up for the cost of certificates on the whole set.
I used a road hazard on one set of tires the first time I took them off the pavement. A mesquite bush decided to plant thorns in places...

"Hunters may not hold both a private-land elk license and a draw elk license in the same license year and may not exchange a draw license for a private-land license."
So if you buy your private-land elk license, you...
Ditto what MTLabrador and Rzrbck said.
I've been watching an offroad recovery guy on Youtube who uses kinetic energy ropes instead of the solid tow straps. They seem to work quite well, although I have no personal experience with them. I'm guessing there's a tradeoff somewhere or situations...
Just curious if you're pulling these odds from GoHunt?
There are definitely some lower quality hunts that are easier to draw and a few that saw 100% of resident applicants draw as a first choice last year, but those generally involved burning your first choice on a lower quality hunt/unit or...
Gotta narrow down my deer and elk a little further before I send in my money. After the reports I heard from the local deer unit last season, I'm considering a move.
Dealt with two stolen vehicles. Vehicle 1 was easy and got a fair offer the first time around.
Vehicle 2 the offer was a bit low and they refused to budge on the offer. I provided examples of comparable vehicles in my area and they still refused. After running up the chain of command, I was...
