Wow thank you very much for taking the time to break this down so thoroughly and thoughtfully. I will definitely have to put this into motion. I know that it will be tough to accomplish especially with states that have less than 1% draw odds even with 17 points like AZ. Plus living here in the...
That definitely pumps me up. I can't wait to start and be able to go. If I wasn't getting married this summer and have extremely limited vacation days I would definitely try my luck with New Mexico this year.
Thanks everyone so far for your input on my questions and the thread topic. I have seen the biggest buck of our whole trip to Idaho for a mule deer 🦌 hunt, just chilling under a billboard sign in town. I know that they're usually easier on average than elk or deer at least with a rifle. I would...
This is pretty much what I was looking for and from doing my own research spot on to what I was thinking. The biggest hindrance for number one is the up front cost whether non refundable license cost and/or full tag price before drawing. Wyoming is definitely my planned first stop, I will have 3...
Excellent after diving more into the GoHunt Insider which has more anterless and doe draw odds this year, I see how that works better. Thanks for the heads up on the leftover tags too.
You are right though it is ALWAYS good to check such a video as well as the WY G&F website. I don't want to spread misinformation. Is the doe/fawn reduced price just an easy draw, not an OTC opportunity. I just did created an account as an existing customer on WY G&F website and it looks like...
I have watched that old one a couple times a while back and the new ones he puts out every year. I don't remember much on the left over tags if they are first come first serve or go through a second draw process. Each state is different. I know that people have recommended adding a doe tag or...
You are welcome. As with anything pay attention to the dates for the draw deadline and when the leftover licenses go on sale. I am checking to see if doe/fawn is OTC, which one could add to the hunt. But bucks are draw only or those leftovers licenses if any.
Thank you everyone who has contributed so far. The answers have helped. My overarching goal with this thread is to create a guide for those of us who may be starting out in the western big game hunting scene or have been doing so for a while, but are interested in chasing North America's most...
Thanks to everyone who has chimed in so far. It does blow my mind that some states are 12+ points for a pronghorn, no matter how awesome, beautiful, unique and delicious (from what I heard, never have tried one) they are. I plan on doing a mule deer and pronghorn rifle hunt in Wyoming in 2022...
Side note I have been a member of GoHunt for a couple years and have been through their state profiles for pronghorn, but wanted to know everyone's thoughts. I have 1-2 points in Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, NV, AZ, South Dakota and probably will for Utah in March.
I have a goal as some of you might remember to hunt pronghorn in every state that I can DIY style with any weapon type. I may cut out California, Oregon, Washington, but would include all the other western states as well as South Dakota, Nebraska, and perhaps Oklahoma. Not sure about Kansas for...
I just politely emailed Senator Brown at 11:30 pm EST I wish that I would have wrote down the other Senators names and emails to tag them as well. I voiced my concern as a non resident from the east here in West Virginia who has an extremely limited budget of time and money. The tag prices...
Excellent to see an update. That would have been one of my top five choices including a few 7/.284s like 28 Nosler, 280 AI, 7mm-08.
I look forward to seeing the future updates with pictures. You are welcome, definitely for a great cause
Thank you everyone for your insight and advice on my question. I went ahead and got bonus points for 900-20 archery 🏹 pronghorn and standard pronghorn (since one of my goals is to hunt pronghorn in every state that I can DIY public land if I can) and a NR Big Game Combo preference point (they...
I have been waiting for the notification about the result from this raffle drawing, didn’t get one so I checked. Although I didn’t win (never have much luck with these things) I am happy for the one who did win and that I could help with what I could and donate to such a great cause. I had fun...
That is a good point and consideration that I forgot to mention. I am mostly interested in opportunities vs trophy potential. Sure there could be a long term plan for a certain species/units, but being newer and from the east I haven’t figured that out while I also rotate through 3-4 states if I...
