Thanks for the advice on where to look for those pronghorn and possibly low country muleys.
I was thinking the same thing about how much more of a challenge finding a 130 in or bigger 3x3 or 4x4 mule deer buck is versus a 70 in representative pronghorn buck, and focus more on that.
Good afternoon everyone. I am going to try this again, but much earlier in the process. I appreciate all the advice last year right before the WY deer and pronghorn draw.
With my brother, cousins and Uncle heading to Idaho for mule deer in two different units and hunt dates, I was not able to...
Thank you 🙏 all for your suggestions. I definitely need to load up some more rounds if I’m going to make this Wyoming mule deer and pronghorn hunt happen in 2023. Needs lots of practice especially at longer distances than just sighting in at 100 yards.
That’s pretty cool 😎 thanks 🙏 for sharing this picture. I see the Pop Up 28 and 38 for sale on Camofire and BlackOvis quite often. That’s one of my top choices for next summer.
I did get a Eberlestock F7 Kite 🪁 for 50% off and have also thought of getting the F1 Mainframe Tall to match as well...
Since I currently can’t afford a high quality pack for carrying in my tree saddle mobile setup with Tethrd Predator XL platform and Hawk Helium 20 in sticks and hopefully haul out deer 🦌 or possibly black bear 🐻 meat 🥩 from the deep and steep places of West Virginia and PA, I am going to try...
I definitely respect you for bring out all of the tricks for spot and stalking, even if sitting water might be tempting at times even though most hate the Sweat Box.
I need to get my bow skills up to par and budget for such a fun yet difficult hunt. Especially since I want to hunt pronghorn in...
Congratulations on drawing a difficult tag in the land of the giants in New Mexico. Looks like you have seen quite a few pronghorn out there including some mid 70s, a wide 80+ and a wonky one. If it isn't the actual rut I have heard that buck decoys don't work so well. Good luck out there, I am...
I have reloaded for my .270 Win and .300 WSM but it has been all cup and core type bullets, Accubonds, etc.... but no copper ones. I still have the Barnes TTSX 150 grainers that Viking Guy recommended for my .300 WSM, I am a tad nervous to try em. But I am sure that I could watch tons of videos...
Sadly the 139s are not made for my 1:10 twist standard 270 Win. The 116s will work, but I would definitely have to talk with Steve about loads. The 124 and 117 Hammer 🔨 Hunters are also viable for my standard .270 Win. Thank you 🙏
Yes I am happy with the 130 grain Nosler BTs, just couldn't find any or multiple sites, etc.... .270 Win seems to be pretty popular and I haven't found too many factory ammo options either. I thought about going with a heartier bullet for a multipurpose load, but the deer that I have taken with...
Aside from the .300 WSM that I have made multiple posts on this forum, I also have a late 90s Savage Model 110 in .270 Win. I have had her for 23-24 years since my Dad bought her for me when I was a teenager. Since I am having muzzle brake issues with my .300 WSM that has hurt my ears on those...
I only mentioned $1,300 to give me more wiggle room for options. I was mostly referring to those models if I were to sell my current rifle for around $950 and was willing to pay a little more for a better and lighter rifle that is available in left hand.
Weatherby Hunter is $1500 and doesn’t...
Hmm 🤔 that’s a good idea as well. That’s true they definitely do. Probably the easiest to switch out with the barrel nut 🔩 etc… I am sure that AccuStock is the same for their sporter contour rifles like the Storm ⛈ and Hunter.
I want a handier rifle and for me as a left eye dominate shooter...
@std7mag I have been scouring the inter webs for a lighter weight left hand rifle in .300 WSM for under $1300, preferably under $1000. My two choices of hand and cartridge and even price makes it difficult. The pickings are slim and even more slim for rifles that are in stock.
I have found a few...
We reapplied some Kroil and let it soak and tried to turn it with multiple tools, but no luck at all. I also bought some sonic defenders from Walmart and put in my ears, I took a shot and my ears still rang for a bit. :( So I called Savage yesterday and will be sending my .300 WSM and possibly...
My Dad soaked my brake in the Kroil for almost a day and used those rubber strap wrenches that I ordered and nothing happened. He said that he reapplied more Kroil. I will be out his way to visit tomorrow and see what is going on myself. Hopefully 🙏 it works. If not Savage will be receiving a...
