There’s a ton of people that don’t follow the rules. I think it’s just that those are the people we talk about. There’s not really a reason to talk about all the people that follow the law.
I’ve never thought a regulation being tough to enforce was a good reason for not having the regulation at all. I like to think that the majority of people are willing to follow the law.
This topic seems to keep coming up and I'm curious to get some actual numbers, at least amongst the Hunt Talk crowd. I get the feeling that most state game agencies probably have no idea what the numbers are either. If you've got thick skin, post up some more details in the comments. Please...
Well that’s extremely annoying to hear as someone who puts in for archery permits but is typically not eligible to apply to hunt these properties since the landowners are usually asking for rifle permits. I guess if they aren’t required to let the public hunters go during rifle season, they...
I have a friend who is really involved in several archery clubs and knows a ton of bowhunters. He said this year he hasn't heard of an antelope being killed at less than 60 yards with the farthest being 96 yards.
So you’d prefer to let technology keep increasing and reduce hunter opportunity rather than try to limit technology while keeping as much opportunity as possible? History has shown us that putting more animals on the landscape isn’t a viable solution.
What is the Idaho proposal? All I saw was that Idaho was forming a group of citizens to discuss hunting technology. There was no mention of specifics like scopes with turrets that I saw.
I wish I had that info available during the commission meeting in the spring, when Commissioner Cebull on a whim proposed to increase the quota range for the 900 permit because "it doesn't impact the resource." When I made my comment, I made the point that we can't just keep increasing permits...
I'd like to see some tighter restrictions on trail cameras also (no cell cameras, no cameras at all during hunting season), but you can't even compare them to drones. Drones can cover a ton of ground. Put a thermal camera on a drone and you take cheating to the next level.
Just a reminder that the deadline to comment is this Thursday.

My dad was just telling me the other day that when he used to hunt down around Baker it wasn’t uncommon to see close to 1000 antelope on opening weekend.
There used to be a thread called Frankenbuck or something where they’d take certain measurements off of animals that people had killed and add them all together to see how big of a buck they could come up with. Pretty sure the main beams on that shed would up the score quite a bit. They don’t...
