Bosque Del Oso
Is anyone hunting the Bosque Del Oso SWA in Colorado this year? My daughter drew one of the 3rd season youth either sex tags and I'm trying to get as much info as possible. We have made two scouting trips so far. -

Colorado Squirrels... rabbit?

A first elk hunt
Good boots are a must. Most people I know use 10x42 binoculars. I would upgrade your scope, Leupold is hard to beat. Buy some quality ammo. I saw several boxes of Barnes 165gr TTSX on the shelf at my local store today. Get multiple boxes of the same stuff. Then you can sight in with it and have... -

Sling Shot Grouse?
I carry one but haven't had the chance to use it yet. In Colorado they are legal for small game mammals, dusky grouse, and ptarmigan.- Hunterbug

Call me crazy but..8mm Mauser
I wouldn't call you crazy. I have a sporterized 1943 BNZ with an old Weaver K4 that's taken 3 mulies and a cow elk since I got it. I load 185gr Remington CL that move at 2650fps. I need to plan another hunt with it. -

Tell Me I'm Not Crazy
I'd take both just because I firmly believe in having a backup but the 06 will do the job just fine. It'll kill elk further than most people are capable of shooting. -

Ultimate Deer Rifle
I love my Mauser in 257 Roberts with a Boyd's stock and a 4x12x40 Vortex loaded with 110gr Accubonds. It'll drop any deer within a reasonable range. -

Spotting scopes/backpack hunts
I have the Razer HD 11-33x50 and I like it. I have 2 other Vortex spotters but I got this one for packing in because it weighs half what they do.
