Unit 10 for me, swung for the fences and then saw no hits, so I assumed I didn't get drawn. Then I just happened to log in and saw my points were 0. I was like "that's not right" since I so expected to not be drawn. Then saw I got my first choice, and after only 7 years.
I switched from Active Duty to NG years ago, and took up contracting. I have a wife and 3 kids. The golden handcuffs get you at first, but in the end if you invest well and plan well, it can work out. Deployments were hard on the family, but I should be retiring in a couple of years, after...
Well, unless a miracle happens, no draw for me this year. Oh well, I've only been doing it for 7 years and I was swinging for the fences this year so I can't be to upset about it.
They're a heck of a lot more quiet. I've never owned electric, but I have used them a fair bit (albeit years ago). Not nearly as fast or as much range, etc. etc. It's a tradeoff. As with all things, start with your usage and go from there. I ended up going with a Can Am Maverick Max Turbo...
I use a few, but the only one I have a partial pic of is this one. JP Enterprises LRP 07M, 18" barrel.
Non pictured ones I use are my Ruger 77, and my .300WM build in progress.
Thanks., I enjoyed it. Always lots to do, or at least I wasn't ever bored up there. Which is amusing to me since I remember being bored a lot after moving to larger cities. Perhaps that was just an age thing. The hunting really dried up once we left though, I haven't been able to hunt or go...
I know this one is a lion track, because I watched it jump out of the tree and make this track. For reference.
The nails were present in the track I'm guessing because these were literally the first tracks from it impacting the ground out of the tree.
I use an AR platform for hunting quite often, not all the time, but most. I use 5.56 on small game, no issue i.e. rabbits, coyote, javelina. I use my .308 AR platform for elk and deer. I see zero issue using a semi auto to hunt with. The type of semi auto means absolutely nothing as far as...
I am wearing both TAD pants and their hoodie right now. I have ha the hoodie for about 6 years now, with constant use. the elbows are worn through since it's my deployment hoodie, and the knees in the pants are burned through from a suppressor. But awesome quality gear if it's real.
My Dads boat was more of a nautical interest to him. There were few sailboats, mostly canoes, kayaks and outboard motor types (at least 40 years ago). You are correct on the parts issue though. One example was our snowmobile caught on fire, we covered it in snow to put it out. My Dad pieced...
Thanks all, I just figured I would share some of my Dads pictures and stories. Although he's likely rolling in his grave because he would never have talked to people he didn't know about any of this. Although he certainly had a collection of great stories from the years up there.
Feel free to...
Thanks.
@Blockcaver, you made mention of abandoned parts, and such. We found a rifle with a broken stock once, out in the middle of nowhere, I think we still have it. Along with some other things from a while back, such as ulus, etc.
And just since I have more pics laying around...
A...
Blockcaver,
That’s really interesting! Also sounds like a great time on the hunt! You don’t happen to remember the name of the lady that put you up, by chance? There was no bed and breakfast when we were there; usually you stayed with someone you knew in town, but the population has since grown...
Wow. Those who say money can't buy happiness don't know where to shop. Although I'm a DIY hunter, I can totally appreciate that display, most impressive. Animals up there that I will never see, let alone hunt. He may as well have a sabertooth tiger in there.
