Having capes tanned in MT and have them mounted up here in Oz. Easier than trying to bring a green salted skin back through our customs. The skull caps and antlers were no problem.
While on my Montana adventure, I managed one at 40 yards from a ground blind. I’d been sitting in the blind listening to the light rain that turned to sleet. All the activity was way over the other side of the field. I had a ball just watching these things go about their activity. I started even...
Spot on there. We know about feral animals here is Oz. Your legislators need to wake up and smell the coffee. Look outside the box to other countries at the damage these introduced species do. ALL cattle stations (ranches) here that have feral horses, are “shoot on sight” and a pre-requisite to...
That is very cool. Only a few taxidermists here that will entertain the idea of doing them.
Something I saw a couple of weeks ago on my US advernture - just before sunrise, watched a fox patrolling a small elk herd - they were super nervous and the cows were running at the fox - it could not...
Thanks guys. I went in hoping I would get a chance and in reality, I took the first chance that came along. Very addictive hunting and an unreal adventure. From day one, we were certainly in the right area and the action seemed to be increasing. Had 2 bulls fighting a 100 yards from me one...
Would have to be a stick on man bun for me - wasnt someone going to market these ?
Hunt went well - got my first ever archery bull elk. No record breaker - small 6x6 on the 3rd day. Punched him at 40yards. limited access still and need to transfer pics etc
Whats good in Bozeman?
Finally made it to big sky country after about 20 hours travel time
The bpdy clock is sti.l ot 100% but some cold beers last night may have helped
That certainly gets the blood racing. 4 days until the big tin bird gets me state side.
The temperature seems to be dropping considerably in the next couple of weeks. Does this hinder or help the rut??
Rocked down to the range this morning for an early morning broadhead tune check. First few shots at 30yards are a little left. No big deal I figure Next 2 shots are spot on at 40 yards with vanes touching. Next 2 are 6 inches left. Scratch my head a little. Next 2 are 6 nches right. Something is...
Big north Australian hog. Unusually hairy for the super hot climate. He made it 5 yards from his cool wallow.
The fox got an arrow in the brain box. Misjudged the the down hill angle - was hoping it would drop into his chest - end result same.
I’ve done 2 here in Australia - abosutely woeful.
1 in Idaho around 2010 (Elk). Didn’t fire a shot in anger but it was the most memorable hunt I’ve EVER been on. 6 hour horseback ride up many, many switchbacks to get to base camp had a million photo opportunities. The company, the surrounds...
Like others have said above, the 50 definitely allows more of available light in. We are allowed to shoot critters under spotlight here and a 50mm for night shooting is the cats meow.
