That’s a really cool site thanks for sharing. I’m seeing a lot of red and blue everywhere I was looking at lol. Zooming out did show one route up a creek that meanders with no shading.
Back to the drawing board.
I’m in the planning phase of picking areas to hunt for an archery elk hunt. Scouring OnX and paper maps I was interested in this slope, but after looking at the elevation gain I realized it’s much steeper then it looks. For those of you with more experience what is the suck level of this slope...
Not sure about elk or deer hair but for a grouse or other bird we put borax on the skin. We also threw it in the freezer for a while in order to kill any bugs.
Man I feel dumb... when I got the email from first lite for zip off base layers, I pictured half the leg zipping off like those convertible dad pant/shorts combos. The zipper up the side makes much more sense....
That being said when I strip my base layer I prefer to precariously stand on one...
For those of you that use the pop ups...
I have a metcalf that I have been using for archery whitetail and rifle white tail out East. I bought it for an elk trip but I found it works great for carrying my climber and archery gear. I’ve been thinking about getting a mule bag to use on the...
That is amazing how tough those animals are. Did your buddy end up doing the skin mount or did he leave the skull exposed for an interesting conversation piece?
What’s so far fetched? Dude got startled and or scared and dropped what was in his hands. Drew his pistol which he has probably practiced a few thousand times and fired a shot(s). It should be a movement that is muscle memory for him. I know if I was expecting a bird to flush and a lion stepped...
Wow that photo of you next to it really puts into perspective how big that gator is. What do you plan to do with the hide? It will make a very cool decoration
I have one and don’t really use it anymore. It cooked things in a fraction of the time, but I didn’t like the aspect of not being able to check on the food while it’s cooking. I ended up overcooking things. However if you use it enough you can probably take the guess work out of cook times. I do...
The insulated Nemo pads are surprisingly comfortable and do keep you warm. Probably overkill, but I also place an insulated fold up thermarest under it mostly because I don’t want the pad to get punctured on anything.
Trioxane tabs used to be my go to, but they didn’t store well once you opened one.
I just tried Pyro Putty on a camping trip and the stuff works great. I also like the small tin it comes in. Going to order a bunch of the .5 oz cans.
I recently acquired a Sony A6000, and was wondering what the best way to carry and protect it would be while backpack hunting. I looked at the Outdoor Research padded cells, but from the picture they looked like an old school lunch bag that kids use and didn’t look that protective for the money...
This is a fishing story but close enough.
My dad and I had driven to a favorite trout stream to fish an evening sulphur hatch and do some camping. After driving 4 hours we pulled up to the stream and saw trout rising. A solid hatch was under way so we were eager to start fishing. We went to the...
For those of you that have taken a black bear in PA, how do you pack them out? Gutless method and quarter them? Also how do they taste? I’ve never had a desire to go after bear because I hear varying reports on the meat quality.
I will be out but I will be archery hunting for whitetail, but I’m curious what the crowds will be like. I’m hoping to use it to my advantage and have the bear guys push some deer back towards me.
