It had been starting to pick up around 9/9 and had a couple bugles in one day. Then went back on 9/23 to snow and silence. No tracks even. I think they were all lower (just below snow, but still on mountainside). Went out again Friday and didn’t hear a thing but jumped a lone cow at 50 yards...
Great guys, thanks! Next spring I'll be checking more often for sure. I mostly use them to see if any animals are around or if it's a more common hiking area than expected.
I've found some locations where I can park on paved or gravel roads and hike in. Then no fires or sources of ignition while hunting to make sure and avoid any possible risk. However, the smoke is miserable and a 3 mile hike feels like an10 mile day in my lungs. If I weren't so hooked I'd...
Hey all, I have been shooting VAP elites and having good luck. It have an opportunity to buy some gamers with a buddy. I think the only difference is straightness (.001 vs .003?). Does this matter much or should I stick with what I have so far?
Sounds like you're on the path to improvement. Good luck this year and keep shooting after season closes. That has helped my form be consistent the most.
I think Randy uses https://store.kifaru.net/mobile/universal-gun-bearers-p197.aspx and it's what I have switched to. It isn't perfect for me but very close. It just takes some adjusting. Guns in my price range flex too much if the sling is used for bracing so it is just to hold the gun. This...
I had a similar problem on an old bow and I could never get it paper tuned even with the pro shops help. After looking the bow over, I'm suspect of a leaning cam. However my Hoyt has been very good and simple to tune. If you are heading out in a few days, then the pro shop may be quicker and you...
Thanks for the responses. It sounds like I should have checked earlier to see if it was worth it or not first. Good advice all around for next season I guess
Thanks
I thought I had found a nice hidey hole near town and put up a trail cam on July 23 over a game trail. I just picked it up yesterday and had one doe, a couple riding horses, and a guy on a mountain bike. For sitting out a month I was pretty bummed. At least no one took the camera and I know not...
Thanks for the feedback so far guys! From Opyff it sounds like scouting for the in and out trails is key. Any other thoughts on how to hunt them? Also curious to kbhillhunters question.
Thanks
I struggled getting any to fit but found the Rock Mountain "Mistress" fit great. It's bright pink and I can go all the sounds fairly well with it. The blue one was too small for me as well
Thanks. I heard him mention something on the Mapping podcast but I'm trying to plan my Archery opener weekend. I can't go to my planned spots due to a new baby and my backup plans are currently burning. Trying to find some other specific areas and more importantly what to do when I get to them...
With the new OnX map layers available, I'm able to start seeing more of the burns and timber sales than just what I can tell from Google Earth. Now I'm wondering how do you hunt these areas? Specifically elk, but deer as well, and preferably in September during Archery but also November during...
