The Clark Fork River runs through Missoula near U of Montana. IIRC, most filming of the movie was not on the Clark Fork, but on the Blackfoot River and Yellowstone River (actually not far from MSU, Bozeman).
It was the Sixties ... it was much more accepted ... maybe weaker beer? Anyhow, I was official driver of Minerva, the fraternity's 1917 White vintage Yellowstone touring bus. However, the driver was limited to only one beer every half hour! :D
